Review: On June 26, 2013 I purchased a camisole and a blouse from CUTEGIRL in Sunrise Mall. Shortly after, I returned the blouse and was given a credit slip by the manager. After returning many times to use my credit, I did not find a suitable item until December 30,2013. Before I had found my item, I had taken my credit slip to the manager and stated that the ink was barely visible. Due to her very broken English, it was hard to understand her, but she wrote over some of the numbers on my receipt because apparently she could see them. When I came to the register with my purchase, she claimed that the slips did not include a credit. I nicely explained that these are the 3 slips that she had given me when I returned the blouse. We went back and forth, and she claimed they were 3 receipts. Even if they were, this is what I put in my wallet after she stapled them together. One of them was signed by my me, and included a circle that she had made around my credit. My debit slip was attached with the total, and a receipt. The manager was not apologetic or kind, only obstinate. I paid for my jeans and left. On January 8 2014 I returned to the store to inquire about who was over the manager so that I could get their phone number. I did not have my credit slips with me because I had planed on speaking to someone that did not work in the store. [redacted] was at the desk and after explaining the problem, she stated "that if I come in next Wednesday around 4:00 that she would be there, and she would look up the date of my return on the computer." I returned to the store on the 15th at 4:20 in order for her to get things done before I came in. [redacted] had not been in, so I gave the sales woman my name, cell number, and a reminder why I needed her to call me. I expressed to the sales woman that I would stay in the area in case [redacted] arrived. Still no call January 23, 2014. Now I absolutely can't read anything on the credit slip, only what the Manager wrote.Desired Settlement: I will not except another credit due to spending $20.60 on 12/30/13. The total on my debit card slip that was attached to the 2 other slips is $28.19,the manager also wrote a total of $28.19 including where she wrote $7.99. The camisole was $7.99 plus tax .64 = $8.63. The balance of my refund is:$19.56. I believe that all of the slips from their cash register are created in order that the type will go invisible. Please have this mailed to me because I do not want to walk into that store again.

Response:

After investigating the situation, these are the relevant facts.

The customer received a "store credit". A store credit is a separate receipt given in addition to the standard issued receipt of purchase in lieu of actual money. The credit is used the same as money within the Cutegirl store, and is redeemed at the time of purchase by the sales associate entering the store credit transaction number along with the date of the credit's issuance. Entering these two pieces of information into the cash register auto-fills the credit value into the transaction, reducing the price by that amount.

The store credit is the same as money, and can be used by anyone, which is why a credit may only be redeemed by presenting the actual credit receipt at the time of purchase. Once the credit is used, the computer system voids the credit and the receipt is destroyed.

The store manager states that customer did not have the credit receipt in her possession when she made her purchase. This is a very unique receipt which cannot be confused with a regular receipt. As stated above, without the credit receipt the store manager is unable to provide the credit simply because the required information is not present.

Since all receipts are printed on standard thermal paper, it is possible that the receipt was left in a warm place, a car, or even a wallet, which will cause the image to fade over time. The customer claims she did not attempt to use the credit until 6 months after the original purchase.

The customer spoke with [redacted], the store's general manager, who is only onsite a few hours per week. Since the customer has been attempting to resolve this issue for some time, it is unknown why the customer did not have the credit receipt in her possession when she spoke to [redacted], however [redacted] offered to go through the stores transactions records for the date of the customers original purchase in an attempt to locate the transaction if the customer would at least provide the transaction receipt which contains pertinent information needed to identify the transaction. Since the customer did not have this receipt either, there was nothing that could be done at that time.

While [redacted] was unable to be at the store when the customer arrived to meet her, the customer did not leave her phone number, so there was no way to contact the customer to attempt another meeting.

Should the customer wish to provide her phone number, [redacted] is willing to call her the next time she is in that particular store to lookup the transaction in an attempt to reprint the credit receipt. Again the customer will need to provide the original payment receipt, since there is pertinent information that is required to identify the transaction.
