Cutting Edge Tree Service Reviews (2)

Review: I had a tree taken down by this company so I could widen my driveway. The stump was grinded but not far enough to put new driveway down. I called the company and he refuses to come back and grind more saying there's a gas line and he doesn't want to be part of that. The gas line does run close but there is plenty of tree that CAN be removed that's not by the line.Desired Settlement: Stump to be ground down far enough for new driveway to be layed.

The customer had a driveway dug out to make it wider. The customer stated there was a chunk of a stump left over that was revealed when the driveway was dug out. I explained to the customer at the time of the job; that diggers hotline does not allow grinding within 3 feet on either side of a gas line. We had the area marked and were following the safety protocol. I apologized for not being able to look at the job site last week but I was there today on 5/9/16. Upon visiting the job site I noted 2 chunks, one within the 3 feet of the gas line and one outside of the 3 feet. I offered to grind out the left over stump outside of the 3 feet and to grind the other stump at least flat for the customer. The customer refused, and stated they had already hired another company, I asked if they could cancel and let me fix the situation and the customer refused. I would be happy to grind out any leftover stump within my ability to keep the job site safe. This customer was aware of the 3 feet rule when they accepted the contract. Review: I hired Cutting Edge Tree Service to remove a very large silver maple tree from my backyard that was in the way for landscaping work I needed done to solve a drainage problem. I asked them specifically if they could remove the tree and grind the stump down 18in below the surface, based on the requirements my landscaper gave me in order for him to install the drainage tile correctly. I was assured that they had the ability to do so. On the day of the job when I saw one of the workers whom I assume was the owner of the business grinding down the stump, I asked him again if it would be a problem to grind it down that far. He said no and continued to work. It was not until my landscaper came in to do the drainage job that I was informed that Cutting Edge had only ground down the stump maybe 8 in below the surface and they were unable to lay the drainage tile the best way because of this. They had to go around the tree stump which I was informed may or may not hinder the performance of the drainage tile and there was not enough time left in their schedule to come back and do it at a later date. I had no choice but to have the work done as it was. I contacted the owner of Cutting Edge immediately and told him what had happened and how unhappy I was with the fact that he lied to my face about the work he did. Having the stump ground down that far was the whole reason I had the tree removed in the first place. It was essentially a waste of my $850 to have him cut this tree down. He said he would come back out to fix it if I wanted, but since the landscapers had already finished the job there was no point. I did not receive so much as an apology from this man, let alone even a partial refund.Desired Settlement: I believe that I deserve at the very least a partial refund of my $850 that I spent to remove this tree. Sine they did not keep their promises to grind it down properly, they may have hindered the effectiveness of my expensive landscaping job I had done. I would have been better off keeping the tree and keeping my $850 and letting the landscaper work around it, which is basically what they ended up having to do anyways.

I did resolved this with the consumer and the tree was on her roof and was pushing on her sofit and if she wouldn't have removed the tree it would have grown into her new drainage so it was a tree the needed to be removed no matter what.
