I purchased a storey sectional from Big Lots in Encinitas on 4/9/2016. These are the photos of what the back side of the chaise lounge looked like upon CV's delivery on 4/11/2016. I paid $80 for delivery. I have had in excess of 15 phone calls trying to get the damaged piece removed from my home and replaced with a non damaged chaise portion of the sectional. This damaged piece investigation is the problem of Big Lots & CV delivery, NOT the customer - who purchased and paid for a NEW product to be delivered by these companies.
I spoke with [redacted] from CV mid-week and was told my chaise would be replaced 4/17/2016 between 3-7pm.
My last contact with CV was by the owner Chris on 4/17/2016. He was incredibly condescending-and customer blaming, upset that I notified Big Lots of the damage and stated there would need to be an investigation (once again, not the customers problem). He was unable to tell me of when the delivery would be available because of this investigation he needed to conduct (yes, not my problem). I became upset, said a swear word and he hung up on me.
I have spoken to the ladies in the Big Lots furniture department and believe they are doing all they can to get the issue resolved.
Your investigation is NOT my problem. I paid in FULL for a brand new sectional to be delivered. What would you like me to do Chris? Eat the cost myself? I've worked hard to be able to buy this sectional AND have it delivered (a luxury I've never afforded myself in the past). I shouldn't have paid for the moving services when the piece arrived damaged, but your staff seemed very honest and said if I contacted Big Lots they would fix it.
The piece was shrink wrapped, upon opening it WHILE your movers were here we ALL saw the cuts (pictured below). Get it together and do the right thing by the customer.
Handle business like a pro Chris - don't involve the customer in internal problems. Duke it out with Big Lots over who damaged what.

Review: I have finally reached my breaking point with C.V. now. I have used them several times over the last few years sending them trucking gigs which has given them thousands of dollars worth of business. I thought I had a relationship with them, yet never have they offered me a discount on services rendered for a repeat customer.

I hired them to move me from apartments back in March 2013 and it was a disaster. I told them I would be moving from a one bedroom place with a loft into a two bedroom place into another apartment. I spoke to [redacted] who assured me that a two person crew could get my move done in 3 hours. I said there is absolutely no way that would happen as I do have quite a bit of stuff and I specifically requested a four man crew. [redacted] once again assured me his two man crew could get my move done.

Long story short, the truck they brought was too small and the crew had to make two trips. The move took 9 hours, yes you read it right, nine hours! The guys worked hard but came unprepared with no dollies and moving materials and they were tired after moving all my stuff with just them. It was stressful and a nightmare. I had to battle it out on several occasions with [redacted] to get the job done and square the finances away where he yelled and screamed at me and threatened me over the money.

I hired them a second time in late June 2013 in an effort for them to get back into good graces and they flaked on me twice promising to render services and never actually fulfilling them. Getting a hold of someone whether it was [redacted], who is pompous and rude, or [redacted] who is useless or even [redacted] who is also just as flakey and useless was impossible and they ended up bailing on my job twice putting me in a huge bind that is now affecting how I do business. They refused to return my phone calls and made empty promises to try and get my job finished on time and couldn't guarantee they would get to my job. They then had the audacity to ask me for a credit card number to pay for the whole job in full before any services were rendered and they still couldn't guarantee it was going to get done the same day! The move cost me more money then we originally spoke about and this second move job in June cost me twice as much money as it should have because they kept not showing up for my job. I had to hire extra labor and trucking last minute to keep my business going. This ordeal has cost me money, time and lost wages because of their negligence.

They are a complete joke of a business and are dysfunctional and unethical in their practices. How dare they treat a customer, especially a repeat customer like they did. They should be ashamed. I encourage the Revdex.com to check their Yelp page for customers with similar situations as mine.Desired Settlement: $160 which is the difference in their quote for my second job and what it ended up costing me out of pocket. ($300 vs $140)

$350 which is the difference between what I paid for the initial move job and their initial quote of what the job was supposed to be done in ($560 vs $210!)

$450 which is fees I endured for not performing a job on time due to CV's negligence.

$1,000 in lost wages for two days waiting for CV to render services

$1,000 for harassment by Chris the owner in how this issue was handled.

$1,000 for punitive damages for infliction of emotional distress from CV's negligence caused an extremely stressful and uncomfortable move the first time

$1,000 for punitive damages for infliction of emotional distress from CV's negligence caused an extremely stressful and uncomfortable situation for the second move job

Total Settlement: $4,960.00 as well as a formal apology from CV, in addition to a mandated customer service etiquette training course and harassment course for [redacted] and all employees. A public apology to all those affected by this disgusting business.

Response:

To whom this may concern:

Due to Revdex.com policy of not allowing Business Owners to include information that personally indentifies our customer I will respond accordingly. CV Pickup & Delivery Service has been in business for over 12 years. We pride ourselves in our work and have a great reputation in the industry. We have a very diverse group of employees with many different ethnical backgrounds. We take pride in the diversity as well as we take pride in our employees who have served for our country. We also take pride in the right to refuse service. This customer’s complaints and allegations are disfactual and outright untrue. The fact is this customer was verbally abusive to our employees making outright hateful racial comments during the job. We would have stopped the job immediately but the men I had working on the job did not report this until after the job was over. We have made sure since this incident that our new policy is to stop the job immediately at any signs of abuse or harassment so our employees don’t have to incur this type of assault. At the end of the job this customer then became very uncandid when it came time to pay for the services rendered. He refused to pay us for this job and only after hours of us sitting there did he offer to pay us a much lesser amount that we unwillingly accepted to help at least cover our overhead although we still lost money on this job.

I do want to formally reply to this customer and this complaint. Customer, I sincerely hope that you find it in your heart to someday stop these cruel and hateful personal attacks on people. Racialism is wrong and hurtful. God created men and women equally. As soon as you can release this hate your eyes will be opened up to a new world and a greater world at that. I hope that someday you realize this. I pray for you and for all the victims you have hurt.

As for an apology on our actions you will receive no apology. I/we will always protect our employees from people like you, you deserve no apologies.

As for your attempts of extortion, you have no grounds and I hope you extract your complaint immediately and withdraw your slanderous comments as they are damaging to our reputation and we may have to seek legal counsel.

Best regards,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[I categorically deny their allegations of racism and unfair treatment of their employees and am appalled that they would stoop as low as to make such horrendous, inaccurate and slanderous accusations as they have. I come from an ethnic

background and thus are most sensitive to racial

slurs and innuendos and take personal offense to this issue. The facts remain that their actions and service were unprofessional,

substandard and my bad experience is consistent with that of

other customers who have posted similar complaints on social media

sites and yelp. I am not saying the employees didn't work hard, because they did. However, they came unprepared with the proper materials to complete my job in a timely manner and the management, or lack there of I should say was consistently shady and only interested in the money. Shame on these people.]
