Review: I purchased a new central air conditioner unit about 4.5 years ago. I had it freeze up on me 3 times during that time. They never did anything to find a leak until the 3rd time. They had to replace a combustion valve which they told me had to be specially made. I was without central air for over a month. I was told it would take 6 to 7 hrs. for them to repair the unit. At that time they said I would owe $815.00. It took them only 3.5 hrs. to repair it. They still want me to pay the full amount. I do not feel I should have to pay that much for half the amount of time it took to repair and for all the hard ship they put me through with a new unit. Please advise me on what to do.Desired Settlement: Pay a much smaller amount or pay nothing at all for what I had to go through.

Review: I purchased a new gas boiler system for my home back in February 2013 in which they were to remove the old oil unit and replace with a new gas boiler and hot water heater. Upon completion of installation, the warranty/product information for both the boiler and hot water heater was not provided. CVC was immediately called and asked to send this information so I knew what the warranty information was and how the unit was to operate in the event I had any issues. I was originally told they had to put together the packet of information as they did not have it but would get it in the mail to me as soon as they had it completed. After a few months went by and I did not receive this warranty/product information, I called them back again to ask for it to which they said they didn't get a chance to get to it yet but would have it dropped off at my house. To their credit, they did have this information dropped off at my house, however, it did not include the warranty information- which was a disappointment. After having issues with my unit in February 2014 (a few days before the 1 year warranty expired) I then again asked them to send me the warranty information for the unit and the new parts that were installed so I had them for future warranty related issues. I have been trying to get this warranty information from them for over a year and it has been very frustrating! It has been a week since I last spoke with them and I have yet to receive the information via mail.

During a recent conversation with my salesman who sold me the high efficiency unit, [redacted], he informed me that there was an extended warranty that was available on my unit at the time I had purchased it but I was never informed of this. At this time I do not know what my warranty is on my unit but would have to think its more than a 1 year warranty. And I am not sure if there is anything I can do about the extended warranty that was available on the unit- or is too late to sign up for one now that I am past a year on having the unit? Who do I need to talk to about this, the manufacturer, my contractor (CVC)?Desired Settlement: I'm in need of help getting this warranty information that is due to me as a consumer and someone who sent several thousands of dollars on a heating system for my home. ALL warranty information is needed and what my next steps should be as a consumer who was never given this information at the time of purchase--in terms of missed warranty opportunities. I don't think its fair for me as the consumer to get ripped out of a warranty b/c my contractor didn't do their job. In addition, I would also like an apology from the owner of the company.

Response:

According to CVC Mechanical Contractors Inc. procedure, at the completion of an installation job the Project Manager meets with the customer to go over the installation, make sure that everything is complete and done to the customer's satisfaction, answer any questions the customer may have on their new equipment and to collect the final payment.

Review: 1. M 12.17.2012: CVC visited our newly purchased house for 'maintenance agreement initial inspection.' We paid them a check for $278. They found the system's coolant pressure was very low

and their 2 service agents emphasized very strongly we refill the coolant. I was surprised by the intensity of their insistence. They had me sign a form indicating I 'refused the coolant.' During their visit they mentioned they had 'previously serviced the home,' and that they had 'welded a broken pipe' and were aware of the system's leak before their visit.

2. T 1.3.2013: After discussing CVC's actions with 2 area heating contractors, I decided I wanted to terminate our service agreement and have our payment refunded because CVC had knowingly withheld information from us in its attempt to refill our coolant. I talked @ 21 minutes with owner XXX XXX. He was cordial, said he 'understood my desire for a refund' and asked if his manager could discuss it with me in a follow up call. I said that was fine.

3. T 1.8.2013: CVC manager XXX called me and confirmed CVC had 'serviced XXX XXX on May 2012, and that 'almost 5 pounds of coolant had been added to the system.' She offered to extend our 1-year maintenance agreement to 2-years at no cost. I declined the offer and said 'I wanted to terminate the agreement and have our $278 returned.' I told her I was concerned that CVC had been silent about its previous work on our house, and felt uncomfortable with the company's practices. XXX said she would return our money. She was cordial during our talk.

4. F 1.18.2013: I decided to call CVC after hearing nothing from the company during the last 10 days. XXX was extremely argumentative and combative during this conversation, and initially denied she agreed to return our money. I did my best to remain calm and repeated the details of our earlier conversations. Finally, XXX said she 'would return only half our money' as we 'owed them for the first visit.' I told her I didn't think we owed them anything for the first visit as 'CVC misrepresented itself to us' on the first visit. I asked to speak to the owner.

5. F 1.18.2013: I was transfered to XXX who identified herself as the 'CVC co-owner and wife of the owner.' While XXX didn't raise her voice during our conversation, she was argumentative and initially insisted they owed 'us nothing.' I again repeated the details of our experience with CVC. Finally, she said 'I'll put a check in the mail today for half of your payment.' I repeated my desire to be fully reimbursed and asked she think about it. She repeated 'I'll send half today!' and hung up on me.

During the last 6 months I have heard nothing from CVC, and have not received a check from the company.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate having our $278 returned as earlier promised by the company. Frankly, I am very surprised by, and wary of, the 'emotional intensity' displayed by the company during our last 2 conversations, and would appreciate not receiving any harassing phone calls or visits to my residence. Thank you.
