College Works
At first I was worried if I made the right choice in choosing College Works to paint my houseBut as it turned out, I did make the right decision
I was very impressed with Brandon's leadership and his attention to detail and getting the job done rightI've never seen such a harder working dedicated group of workers as they wereThey showed true professionalismBrandon not only saw that his workers and painters knew what their job was, he also pitched in and worked as hardHe always kept me informed as to what was happeningThe prep work they did on the house was outstanding and a lot of hard workThe paint job on the house was just beautifulAll the painters did an excellent jobSergio R***, Chasse G***, Teizell J***, Tim L***, and Jose M***Thumbs up to all of them! I would recommend Brandon and his crew to any home owner who wants their house painted
I owe you all a gracious thank you, thank you, for a job well done and an extra special thanks to Brandon for making this such a pleasant experience

We were impressed with the entire process! From nailing down the contract, to choosing the paint color and through the completion of the jobThe attention to detail was amazing and the communication I received on a daily basis made this a lot less stressful than other jobs I've hired for

Amanda L*** and her crew were fabulousTheir painting prep work was thorough; their painting skills greatWorking constantly to get the job done wellIn addition, their attitude is exemplary and enjoyableThey take great pride in their work.We were fortunate to have chosen this crew

House painting work was contracted for $8,I paid a 10% deposit, which should have resulted in a remaining balance of $7,When the work was completed, I was instead charged $10,I did not sign any contract authorizing extra work which would have increased the chargeIf extra work was performed, it may have been due to a matter of miscommunication between the workers and the project's manager, and not by my requestIn particular, I seem to have been charged for a drastic color change, which was not required--and in fact would have been forbidden by the rules of my HOA, which were discussed in detail with the companyThe house should have only needed a single coat of its original color to cover weatheringI sent an e-mail to the company contact I was working with to resolve this issue, but it has gone unanswered

Regretfully, our representative in Mr*** area had toleave our program due to a family emergencyWhat made this especiallychallenging was that most of our covered area is in the Seattle metropolitanarea and we had no one to take Andy’s placeMr*** should have beencontacted sooner, and this
is an oversight on our behalfWhen Jared (One of our Bellingham reps) went down to talk to Mr***the primary issue is that Mr*** wants a color change but does not want topay for two coats of paintTherefore to do the job to his satisfaction wewould need to collect on and apply two coatsThis upset Mr*** and is whereI (as the VP) came inMr*** expressed his dissatisfaction with thisresolution. I immediately empathized andtold him we would eat the cost of the extra work and complete the job accordingto the contractHowever, we would not be able to get someone to travel down toVancouver until Mid to late SeptemberThis infuriated Mr***I then offereda full refundHe said it was not fair that we held his money this longI thenoffered him his refund PLUS 5% interest for holding him moneyHe refused andsaid he wanted to explore other optionsMr*** insisted that I was onlyoffering options of convenience to meI assured him that neither option wasconvenient and it was simply a matter of bad luck and logisticsThe onlyperson we have that can travel has a daughter that just got out of the hospitaland I was not prepared to ask him to leave herMr*** was unmoved. Both offers still standAt CWP we care aboutour clients and we are upset when life challenges us to complete a paint jobIbelieve we offered two fair and reasonable resolutions, but both were rejected. We continue to strive for excellence in customer service in spite of life’sproblems that occur. Respectfully, College Works Painting Chris H***

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:This is factually inaccurate.  We did not ask College Works to do anything different than what was covered in our bid.  I think it would be a reasonable assumption that anyone painting their house would not be using an exactly identical color, otherwise what would be the purpose of painting the house be?  Our house is a light grey / beige and we have selected a slightly darker grey for the new color.  Andy, the original person who provided us the estimate explicitly told us that we could pick any color and that the one coat solution would work because it is "super paint" which is a premium product.  He originally told us that he would come in and do a design consultation in June so that we could pick the colors that we want.  I there was no color change intended in the original bid, why was this part of the process?  I'd like to verify with College Works HQ on the intent of the design consultation process if that is not the case.  The fact that Chris is now suggesting that what we are doing is outside of the original contract is simply ludicrous.  More than anything, I think this is a reflection of his integrity that he would even attempt such an argument. The other point that I want to clarify is that I didn't reject Chris's offers.  I told him that I would have to think about it and consult with my wife before I let him know.  He said he would do that but I found out that he pre-emptively cancelled my contract and requested a refund shortly after our conversation, and before I let him know which direction I wanted to go.  I think this speaks to Chris's lack of willingness to honor his commitments. Finally, we were pressured into accepting the original agreement in March in order to get the 10% discount.  By Chris not honoring the contract, I ended up paying the large downpayment without the benefit of the 10% discount, and left without much choice given the time of year.As noted in Chris's reply, he no longer has a representative in Southwest Washington, making it more expensive for him to honor his commitment to customers in this area.  Both Jarrod and Chris pressured me heavily to cancel my contract, and in the end Chris did so without my consent.  This makes sense given his financial motivation, but I think it is inappropriate for businesses to try and change the terms of their contracts or cancel contracts simply because it is not convenient or profitable for them to continue.  I wonder how many other Vancouver/Camas customers are in the same boat as me, and left with no options or pressured to pay higher prices. Sincerely,[redacted]

I believe Daniel S[redacted], the scheduler/salesperson I worked with works out of the main office, but the painting team itself is local to the Seattle area. I don't know exactly where they are based, however.
