We dispute the cause of the fire as well as the cause of the alleged leak, but assuming Mr [redacted] 's account that gallons of fuel was leaked soaking the engine compartment was true, he knowingly continued to drive the vehicle being aware of this information and condition Therefore, in our opinion, this puts negligence for the fire with him

We dispute the cause of the fire as well as the cause of the alleged leak, but assuming Mr. [redacted]'s account that 10 gallons of fuel was leaked soaking the engine compartment was true, he knowingly continued to drive the vehicle being aware of this information and condition.  Therefore, in our opinion, this puts negligence for the fire with him.

In response to this complaint, Mr. [redacted] had the vehicle brought to us due to the truck "running wild".  After inspection of the vehicle it was determined to be the injection pump.  After getting the vehicle running, multiple leaks were seen and Mr. [redacted] stated that he wasn't worried...

about the leaks but we insisted that we wouldn't authorize the vehicle to be driven out with the current leaks.  Mr.  [redacted] authorized us to repair the leaks.  After they were fixed, Mr. [redacted] companion took the truck around the block several times and then came back to our shop and remained running for another 30 minutes.  After the test drive and the extended idle time, no leaks were observed by either us or Mr. [redacted] and he paid his bill and left.  Approximately,  1 1/2 hours later, Mr. [redacted] called our shop and stated that the fuel filter was spraying fuel all over the place.  The shop manager asked where he was at and we would have the vehicle towed back to our shop to determine the problem.  He stated that he was close to his destination and was replacing the fuel filter himself.  Apparently, Mr. [redacted] replaced the fuel filter and kept driving the vehicle for another 30 minutes when something caused the truck to catch fire.  It is important to note that although were were only fixing the fuel issues, he was informed of the poor condition of the truck to include hazardous wiring but he chose not to have anything else repaired.

Regards, we were never told of any wiring problem and MEVER had an electrical issue before, during or after they worked on truck. Their incorrect installation of the fuel filter caused approximately 10 gallons of fuel to be sprayed all over the entire engine compartment. Regardless of my installing a new fuel filter the fire was caused by their mechanic installingbthe filter numerous times causing a crack in the fuel filter. Regarding it sitting at idle for a short time doesnt allow for the additio nal stresses of vibration and or additional fuel pressure widening the crack that they cause allowing it to spray the fuel as it did. They should be forced into paying for my truck and if not the very least should be their refunding my money for them causing my fire. My replacing the fuel filter  had zero to do with the fure. My entire engine compartment was sucked including the insulation under the hood. Soaked through. Only thing I did was fix the leak that they started. They never offered to tow the truck back, however they did offer to fix the truck.....I already did that by changing the filter. We will be going to court over this I am sure. I also have paperwork from a couple ase certifed shops statyling the probable cause of the fire was due to their faulty installation of the fuel filter causing the crack.
