Re: ComplaintI.D# ***Dear Sirs,We have received your letter regarding our customer's statement of a problem that theyhave complained about The customerfirst brought their car to us on April 29, 2014,a little over a year ago with 85,miles on itThey were
requesting abattery replacement and also to diagnose a warning light related to engineperformance & pollution emissions, possibly related to a rough running engine complaint made by the customer There were also
maintenance service request warning lights on at that time regarding the need for thereplacement of the A/C system interior air microfilterSince they were a first time customerwe also performed acourtesy, free inspection of the entire vehicle in order to inform the customer
of the general condition of the car and what services, repairswould be coming soon in order to keep the car in good running order.was damaged by the flying fan belt pieces )and the damaged coolant hosesThis revised
estimate of $1,was approved over the telephoneby "***." In addition to this the customer r quested the replacement of the windshield washer pump and we thought it would be a good idea to replace the wiper blades due to fact that they were so horribleit was almost better not to use them if it was rainingThe battery, which the customerpurchased the year before, was so dead that it could not be brought back to a proper charge and so the battery part itself was replaced free of charge to the customerSo far, so good and it was after this approved work was completed that we could actually start the engine again & test for further problems if any.Two problems existedat that point that we were not able to foresee prior to the start of work ( dueto the fact that there was no electrical power in the car and that the engine was not running)We called the customer & informed them that the air conditioning was not blowing cold and that there was an electrical fault that was causing problems with the car's stability control system which couples with the car's all wheel drive system & automatic transmission
control Thecustomer responded that they had no problemwith these systems prior to the currentbreakdownWe could only respond to that statement by saying that it was possiblethat perhaps the flying fan belt pieces and/or the shutdown of the car's electrical system had
affected these systemsWe told them that we needed to at least some additional testingto determine the causes of these failuresThe customer approvedthe additional diagnostic charges and we informed them that once we knew exactly what was goingon we would be back in
touch with them.It turned out that there was a slow leak from one of the A/C hoses( which over the courseof a year of sitting can happenand would cause the A/C not to be cold )however, along with that leak, we found that the A/C compressor itselfwould not runIt would not switchon & pump up the A/C system toproper internal pressures which is essential for any A/C system,
anywhere,to workFurther testingalso determined that the A/C compressor was (is) receiving
a proper power input signal and is grounding properlywhich shows that all electrical controlsto run theA/Care in proper working orderThere was a recharge to the A/C systemdone at this time ( done to find the leak in the hose ) so that everything was inplace for the A/C to blow cold
except for the fact that the compressor would not runThe car needs a new compressor for the A/C to blow cold and needs a hose replacedin order to remain blowingcoldAs far aswe are able to tell there is no externaldamage to the A/C compressor and certainly no damage
done to it during any repair work that was being done.The compressor has failed internally
through no one's faultIt is just an outrightmechanical breakdown not caused by any external forces.customer's request for a total refund of approved work Dueto the fact that all repairs, which were completed, were authorized by the customerwe do not understand why the customer is requesting a full refund The car does need additional work howeverthis additional work has not been brought about by any negligence, carelessness or _maliciousness on the part of Bavarian Motor ExpertsAgain, it needs to be pointed out that the car's electrical system was totally dead & the engine was not running It wouldhave been impossible for anyone to even be aware of the additional problems existence until the basic immediate repairs were completed.One last item needs to be addressedThe customer has called into question the issue of licensing & certificationWe can assureyou that the technicians workingon the car have been trained & certified by *** of North Americaand that all State of Hawaii requiredlicenses are current.We will be attempting to contact the customerseparately in order to try to work out some resolution to this matter.Thank you for your tim e and consideration,Bavarian Motor Experts
