D & A Builders Reviews (1)
I contacted [redacted] in January 2013 to get an estimate on home improvement work including exterior painting of home and garage, carpet replacement inside home, and fence repair.[redacted] gave me verbal estimates on the work, and I mistakenly gave him start-up money before I received a written estimate or contract. I repeatedly asked for the documents as the work proceeded. Each time I asked, he said he would bring them out, but he didn't. As of this date, he has not complied with my request, and I have no written proof of the work he did at my home. In addition, he installed a new garage door and still has the key(s) to it. I have asked several times for him to bring the keys to me, but he has not done that, either, as of this date. [redacted] employed his son, [redacted] agreed to do some yard cleanup as a separate job from the original, but [redacted] was well aware of it and provided the use of the company trailer to haul limbs and other material cleaned from the yard. The cleanup job is not complete. One item remaining is some coal that was in the bottom of a coal bin removed. At the time, [redacted] was unsure what to do with the coal. I called City Sanitation Dept, and they assured me that coal required no special disposal. Another item remaining from the yard cleanup is the disposal of a concrete sink which [redacted] broke into pieces but did not haul away. When I last spoke with him, he assured me he would get the company trailer and complete the job, but he has not done that. Since the job is now totally paid for, I believe that [redacted] has no incentive to complete the work or to provide keys and paperwork. I have called repeatedly, and he always says "next week." But "next week" has yet to come.I realize I am at fault for having given [redacted] money without the paperwork I requested and before the job was completed. At this point, 8 months after the work began, I am not at all certain I can rely on him to complete his obligation, so I am filing this complaint.
