D & A Five & Dime Thrift Store Reviews (3)

After talking to all staff members that were involved with this sale and delivery I found out that Ms. [redacted] had come in looking for a new bed. She spoke with [redacted] about purchasing a bed and how that worked with us. [redacted] informed her that all beds are ordered after a purchase has been made. All...

beds are refurbished mattresses and box springs. At that time she did not purchase the bed she wanted to look around first. About a month later she came in and purchases the bed. Ms. [redacted] comes too the store often and has tried to get a refund before and was not able to. We have a no refund or exchange policy. It is posted on the wall behind to register. She asked if we would take her old bed for her and was informed that we do not do that because we can not resale them and are not equipped to haul someone else's rubbish off. When the guys went to deliver the bed for her they stayed to make sure everything was set up right for her. Again she tried to get the drivers to haul off her old mattress. After the bed was set up Ms. [redacted] sat on the bed and pushed on the bed and said that would work just fine. The guys did remove the plastic coverings for her. It was about a week later that Ms. [redacted] came into the store demanding her money back because she claims that the bed is to hard for her to sleep on. She was very loud and rude in the store yelling at the staff and threatening to turn us into who ever would listen to her. She had [redacted] call and ask what our policy is for returns and or refunds. They informed my staff that was no way to do business. we have to let the customer try out the beds first. Ms. [redacted] also had a detective come to the store to check our licensing and such. Real had my staff a little on edge with that. I would say that it was a few days later when I got a phone call here at my office from some lady claiming to be Ms. [redacted]'s daughter. She started demanding that I give her mom a full refund and come get the mattress. I explained that we could not do that because by law we can resale the mattress and box spring, besides on special orders most places do not do refunds. She started getting rude with me and started making verbal threats against me and my company. She said she would make life a living hell for me and would involve everyone she could think of to get involved. We do have a no return and no refund policy and it is posted for all to see. I find that it is hard to wok with anyone if they are not willing to listen to any solutions. I am very sorry that this woman does not like the bed now, but at some point it was okay because she did not come back to complain for at least 5 days. I am not sure if there is a solution to this issue now, but I do hope that something happens to protect us from any more verbal threats and harassment.Sent on: 1/4/2016 4:19:43 PM

I am rejecting this response because:They are not giving all the truthful facts of the situation as well adding additional facts that are false. The false facts are listed as 1.That a woman stating she was my daughter demanding they refund the money to her mother and accept the merchandise back. She also stated my supposed daughter also stated that she would make their life a living hell. 2.As far re:having a detective going into the store to check out licensing, etc. is false as I do not anyone in that profession nor would've I have ever considered this type of action for such a minimal purchase. 3. As far as the return of an item, I returned a watch that was not working and this is the only time I have ever gone back to return something I purchased. When I told [redacted] , manager about the watch she told me there were no refunds but, she did give me credit for other purchases in the store.4. In re:to my old bed I only asked them if they could take the box springs to their trash because I had already demolished the mattress. They responded that they couldn't but, they did take the burlap for me.5.In re:to the delivery and setup of the bed as I stated before as the bed was being setup we were talking and then they left. They no dialogue in regards to if the bed was acceptable. As of 12/8/15 I have not returned to the premises or ever called with threats or harassments.I hope this can be resolved in the near future.

Review: I purchased a full size bed from Five & Dime Thrift Store on 11/28/15. They ordered the bed. I was only told that it was refurbished. Bed was not in the store so, I never got to see or feel it. Total paid $158.76 & $20 for delivery. The bed was delivered on 12/3/15. They put it together & left. We were talking about bed so, I didn't get to feel bed. When I tried bed it was too firm and wasn't slept on. On 12/8/15 I went to Five & Dime. Spoke to [redacted]. He said I was given all the information and knew the bed came from CA mattress. He also told me "there are no refunds". I told him that I was only told that it was refurbished but, was never told where it came from & that the bed was not in the store for me to try. I told him that I hadn't slept on the bed & if I could exchange it for another bed. He said "no refunds". I was very upset & told him "not right when I'm not given correct information". When I get upset right side starts to swell up due to brain surgery on 7/8/13. No more seizures but, still take medication for it. He contacted ceo, [redacted] or [redacted]. Was told I would get a call back. To this day I haven't received a call. Nothing on receipt stating "no refunds". I have receipts. It is written on a board on their store but, I should've been given the chance to see & feel the bed. That should be a store procedure. I contacted [redacted] where I also buy things & they said if a customer buys a bed they don't leave the store unless they see & feel the bed. A volunteer called Five & Dime was also told their procedure and that I would receive a call. Again, no call from ceo, cfo, coo, etc. [redacted] at Five and Dime said he was only going by my word that the only information I was given was that it was refurbished. He works there and knows that the beds are not in the store.Desired Settlement: I went to the store five days after it was delivered to advise them that it was too firm and tried to work with them re:exchanging for a softer bed. They wouldn't work with me. When [redacted] called the corporation & spoke with someone there he didn't tell them that I would like to exchange it for a softer one. He just said "she wants her money back". I now have a soft bed so, I want a full refund. The bed I purchased from Five & Dime is here in plastic bags.
