To whom it may concern:This is in regards to the complaint issued by *** *** I do not agree with any of the statements he made based on the following:1. When we were first contacted by the customer he stated that the truck ran horrible, no power,
pinging bad, check engine light was onsee the attached repair order I am sending you, at that time all he wanted was the truck to be tuned so that the check engine light stayed out.2. He also wanted to know if the truck had aftermarket heads on it, stated he had it at a repair shop earlier and they removed the valve covers but couldn’t tell him if the heads were after market at allWe inspected and did inform him, without removing the valve covers, that the engine had aftermarket heads on it.3. At this point due to how bad the vehicle ran we recommended that a preventative maintenance analysis be done on the vehicle to see whether or not the vehicle was worth repairing He agreed to this.4. After the inspection we called the customer and informed him of all the issues with the truck, SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS ON, SHIFT INDICATOR IS LOOSE, ALIGNMENT IS OFF, EXHAUST LEAK, EGR TUBE IS LEAKING, ENGINE HAS A MISS FIRE, BRAKE PEDAL PULSE WHEN BRAKING, BOTH HEAD GASKETS LEAKING OIL, LEFT HEADER PIPE HAS CARBON AROUND FLANGE, INLET TO MUFFLER IS LOOSE, #COIL CONNECTOR IS BROKE AND GLUED TOGETHER, PLUGS ARE UNDER GAPPED, POWER STEERING RESERVOIR IS MISSING BRACKET TO ENGINE, COULD NOT DO A BRAKE INSPECTION DID NOT HAVE LUG NUT SOCKET IN VEHICLE, LEFT HEADER GASKET LEAKS, TRUCK HAS BAD MISS UNDER LOADAfter we gave the customer this list he still wanted to proceed with repairsHe wanted the valve covers removed and the cylinder heads torqued to see if that would stop the oil leaks, he wanted the egr tube replaced to see if that would richen the engine up, he wanted the tune done to turn off the check engine light.5. The first thing we did was remove the valve covers to torque the cylinder heads, at that time we found that the cylinder head bolts that were previously installed by the shop who put the heads on were not installed correctly, they were not lubed up prior to torqued them and they were stretched beyond manufacturers recommendationsWe also noted at this time that the cams had adjustable cam gears installed on them for timing and that the bolts for these gears were loose and the cams were both fully rdedCalled and spoke with the customer and explained his options and costs associated with the options and he choose to just have the cylinder head bolts replaced, to see if that would stop head gaskets from leaking oil, he did not want the cam timing set due to the cost involvedhe stated to just tighten the bolts down where the cams were and let it go.6. We then replaced the egr tubeThe customer did not want the other exhaust leaks repaired either due to the cost factor.7. We then called the customer again about tuning the truck to get the check engine light to go off and stay off and told him that the truck really needed to have the cam timing set, the misfire fixed, and the coil replaced that had the broken connectorThe customer declined any of this work due to the cost and stated again all he wanted was the check engine light to stay off.8. We then tuned the truck so the check engine light would stay off, made notes on the invoice about the trucks other mechanical needs and that the truck was running as best as it could with the mechanical issues it had.The customer was kept informed of the progress and repairs being made and needed on his truck during the entire time the truck was hereWe had contact by phone with the customer at least times during the repair processWhen the customer came in the bill was explained to him along with our pointing out again the additional repairs the vehicle neededAt that time the customer gave us $CASH PAYMENT AND CHECKS FOR THE BALANCE THAT WE WERE TO DEPOSIT ONCE PER MONTHat no time did the customer complain about the cost, he was informed of the costs every step of the wayWe did not even know he had an issue with the work we did until we deposited his first check, days after he picked up his truck, and he stopped payment on itAt that time we contacted the customer and asked why, he stated he wasn’t happy with the performance of his truck, we then again informed him that it was impossible for his truck to run correctly until the mechanical issues were repaired He again declined repairs and refused to pay balanceIt was at that time we turned him over to a collections agency and then after we did that he filed this complaint , in what I feel, was a vindictive way to get back at us. In closing we kept the customer informed during the entire repair process as to his trucks repair needs and the costs associated with those repairsWe only performed the repairs that the customer approved, we documented the additional repairs the truck needed and the customer signed the invoice that had these additional repairs noted onthe check engine light has not come back on in his truck so the repairs that we performed did correct the customers initial concernsAny further repairs were at additional expense and the customer declined all of these. p.s.I have spoken with the customer since he filed this complaint and explained why his truck still runs bad and he agreed it ran terrible before he brought it in but that he had hoped it would run better afterwardsHe agrees he owes us the money but stated he didn’t have itHe just wants to sell the truck because he can’t afford to fix it

To further clarify this issue I would like to refer to the repair order and signed estimate that we have in regards to our getting authorization to repair this vehicle.  as the estimate dated 1/13/2014 clearly shows [redacted] did authorize repairs in the amount of $111.45 when she dropped the vehicle off in person at noon on that day. we have both the signed estimate and the date and time recorded on our shop management system of that authorization. I would state that this fact  is not in question.  this was for up to one hour of diagnostic time to test what was causing her vehicle to run bad and idle bad. after testing we found that the vehicle was only running on 3 cylinders at idle and only 2 when under load, further testing determined that the vehicle  had 2 bad plug wires and that the engine valve cover leaking oil into the spark plug well tubes was the most likely cause of this. we did note that the plug wires were recently replaced with belden brand plug wires.  we called the vendor who carried this brand of plug wires and got them replaced for the customer at no charge for the parts even though we had not installed them. it was at this time that we called the customer to inform them of our findings and ask her how she wanted us to proceed. our recommendation was to replace the plug wires, the spark plugs and the leaking valve cover gasket.  if you add these items up on the repair bill you will see that the total cost of these items to be replaced is 185.04. the approval we received from the customer was for 187.17 which again falls right in line with what our repair order shows. we received this approval by phone at 3:01 pm the same day the car was dropped off. again this is noted on the repair order. when we performed our courtesy inspection on the vehicle when it first came in we also found that the vehicle had a very loose right outer tie rod end which we did inform the customer about. we were told by her at that time that she would get back to us as to whether or not she wanted to replace the tie rod end. there was a communication mix up on our end and the technician replaced the tie rod end when we were working on the car. after we replaced the plug wires and the plugs and the leaking valve cover we started the vehicle and it still had a miss. after further testing we found that as a result of the car being driven on the highway with the misfires on 2 cylinders it caused an exhaust valve on the engine to burn through thus causing low compression on one cylinder. we called the customer and gave her the options for repairs and she choose not to repair the vehicle. at that time we told her that she owed 187.17 for the testing and repairs that we did to the vehicle. she was not charged for the tie rod end that was replaced. she then asked us what her options were for getting rid of the vehicle and was informed that we could junk the vehicle and that would offset the cost of the repairs she owed us for. she was told that any extra monies we received over and above what she owed us would be sent to her. as to the timing of when she emptied out the vehicle and when or even if we were supposed to remove the plates this I can't be certain off because this was over a year ago. I do know that the customer or her boyfriend cleaned out the car and gave us the title. we did not junk the vehicle for several months after we took possession of it as we were waiting to receive the best price for scrap per ton. we junked the vehicle on around the 3 rd week of march, again I don't know the exact date but on march 21st we credited her account for 178.50 for the amount we received for the vehicle. we then "wrote off" the balance of the initial repairs and the additional costs of replacing the tie rod end, the customer was not billed for this nor was this charged against her bill. I cannot speak to the statement that the customer tried to contact me numerous times over the past year as I personally never received those phone calls nor got any messages. the customer also never stopped down in person the express their dissatisfaction with what had taken place in regards to their vehicle even though they were at that time from our city. we also never received any letters stating their dissatisfaction with our services. the first time I was aware of any dissatisfaction on their part was when I received this complaint over a year later. I do apologize if their was any miscommunication or misunderstanding about what was to transpire with their vehicle and the junking of it but we pride ourselves on being very open and up front with our customers in regards to all their vehicle's repair needs.  this customer was not charged for any repairs that she did not authorize and she did receive the full value of the monies we received when we junked the vehicle. she has never been sent a bill for the difference nor has she ever been expected to pay any bill beyond the amount she approved. again I do apologize if there was any miscommunication on our part.

I stopped reading after the part where they said they had a phone authorization from me because it's bull. We brought the car in and waited to see what was wrong, then I signed for them to fix the first thing they saw was wrong. Then they called me with a the other problems I said to just jjunk it. I never authorized anything over the phone except to junk it. I called and went into the business and the receptionist said there was no file or evidence of me authorizing them to work on my car. So I'm just going to walk away from this situation, I'm not going to finish reading what they said because it's a waste of my time to read lies and excuses. Once again they ignored me for over a year and finally now decide to explain everything. If what they are saying is true why didn't they just tell me this to begin with. Oh, they are only doing it now because I brought this to the Revdex.com and they're trying to cover their butts. It's all a load of [redacted]. If they want to be dicks and rip people off that's their own choice and they have to live with that.

On 1/17/2014 [redacted]'s 1996 Plymouth neon was brought to our shop for repairs.  the complaint was that they were driving the vehicle on the highway when the check engine light came on and the vehicle than stared to run rough.  at that time [redacted] authorized us to spend $111.45 to...

diagnose the problem with the vehicle. she did this in person and signed the repair estimate for that price, I have attached both the estimate and the repair order to this e mail. the vehicle was never brought in for an oil change as she states and as is proven by the repair order and the original estimate that I have attached. we diagnosed the engine to be misfiring on 2 cylinders and  the cause to be bad spark plug wires which was caused by the valve cover gasket leaking oil into the spark plug well tubes and also that the engine had spark plugs that were worn beyond manufacturers specs. we recommended replacing the spark  plug wires, which we warrantied out for her at no cost since the engine had lifetime wires installed, but not at our shop, we did this as a courtesy to the customer. we also recommended replacing the valve cover gasket due to the fact that it was leaking oil into the spark plug wells and this caused the spark plug wires to fail and  we also recommended at that time that the spark plugs also be replaced since they were worn out as well. during our 35 pt courtesy inspection we also found an outer tie rod end that was very loose and recommended that it be replaced as well. we called her at 3 pm that same day and she authorized us to spend an additional $187.17 for these additional repairs. we proceeded with the repairs and after these were performed the engine still had a slight miss, we performed and engine compression and cylinder leakage test at that time and found that as a result of the engine misfires and the vehicle being driven with bad plug wires and plugs that an exhaust valve had burned thus causing the miss that still was present. we called the customer again and she stated that she did not know if she would want the vehicle fixed and was going to have to think about it. at that time we informed her of the cost of the vehicle repairs owed and she stated she would call us back. a couple days later a male called the shop stating he was her boyfriend and that they were not going to fix the vehicle, they wanted to know their options. we informed them again of the cost of the repairs and informed them that if they wanted we would take the vehicle as payment for the repairs. we then told her that we would junk the vehicle and if we received more money for the vehicle than she owed that we would send  the money. we estimated that we could get between 200 and 300 dollars for the vehicle, it depended on the price of scrap when we took it to the junk yard. the boyfriend then stated they would need a couple of days to get their stuff cleaned out of the vehicle and if they could have their plates which we said was no problem.  a few days later we received another call that the vehicle was cleaned out and that the title was in the car and the car was ready to be junked. we took the vehicle to the junk yard and we received payment of $178.50 for the vehicle. this did not even cover the costs of the repair but as a goodwill gesture on our part we marked her account as paid in full. I do not know what happened to  the plates for the vehicle as we do not have them in our possession and do not know if they were on the vehicle when it was junked. I have not received any voice mails that I can remember from as far as her stating that she attempted to resolve this issue numerous times I don't know if that is true or not as I do not remember having any voice mails from her in this regards nor did we ever receive any written letters from her stating her unhappiness with us an our service. as you can see though she did in fact approve the repairs, both the initial diagnostics and the additional work which is proven by the attached signed repair estimate and the approval on the bottom of the repair order when we called her and she approved verbally the additional repairs.  the repair order is not signed as we never had personal contact with her after she decided to not fix the vehicle and give us the vehicle to junk and apply whatever monies we received for it towards her bill.if you need any further clarification please contact me.thank you[redacted]

[redacted] thank you for reaching out to me. I know that we are trying to resolve this issue before any further steps need to be taken. thank you for giving me the opportunity to discuss this with you.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.[redacted] at D&D Automotive finished repairing my transmission and differential on Friday 12/09/16 as per our deal. My complaint has been satisfied and on my part, I released [redacted] from the costs I incurred at [redacted] Automotive.I thank you and the Revdex.com for assisting me with my complaint.  Sincerely [redacted].

IN REPLY TO THIS I WILL REFERENCE THE WORK ORDER THAT I PREVIOUSLY HAVE SENT TO YOU. invoice number [redacted]. the second line on the vehicle under tune vehicle clearly stated that the customer did not want his vehicle run on the dyno due to the cost associated with that service. it is noted on the invoice, when I spoke to him personally I also told him the only way to properly tune his truck was to put it on the dyno and he did not want this done.  as far as the miles in and out, we do not populate these fields but I can see how in this case this would have been very advantageous to us. I personally drove the truck over 80 miles while I was tuning it on the road since the customer did not want it tuned on the dyno. plus the vehicle was test driven before any work was started to verify the customer concern and after the repairs were performed to verify the repairs. we also have a signed estimate from the customer for $1000.00 which I have attached so the claim that he did not approve above $700.00 is also incorrect. we also received 3 phone authorizations from the customer for additional repairs his truck needed and the costs associated with those repairs. as you can see on page 2 of the invoice number [redacted] he was contacted on 9/8/2014 at 2:23 pm and he authorized an additional repair cost of $1250.00 I can provide phone records that will coincide and back up our claims that we had numerous contacts with the customer. as to his claim that these were not made in person, that is because the customer lives over 30 miles away from our shop. at any time he could have stopped in in person to authorize the additional repair costs but he chose to do this by phone which is an acceptable authorization form in Wisconsin. he was called before we performed our inspection on the truck because he wanted to know if the truck was worth fixing/sticking money into since he had just recently purchased the vehicle and did not know in what kind of mechanical condition it was in. the other statements he makes is a matter of opinion not fact, in fact its slanderous. he was kept informed and made aware of any and all repairs made to his truck before we made them because we knew from the beginning he was on a limited budget. again I state we did everything the customer approved, he was informed of everything we were doing before we did it, he was not without a vehicle while his truck was in our shop, we provided him with a no charge courtesy vehicle,  he was told verbally and in writing that his truck needed additional repairs and that if these were not done the truck would not run good, he even signed the final invoice where these were reiterated in writing.  sincerely [redacted]d and d automotive services inc.

that is why [redacted] you have nothing in writing sighned by me to back it up? slanderous remark? what a joke. I have two mechanics from different shops telling me you did nothing basically on this truck. you [redacted] are a joke and I would never take my  bike to you . never again [redacted]. then i I will go to court to prove my point with another mechanic. I also will ad this to rip off .com and several others. so just keep lying. yes you have an invoice [redacted] and so do I not authorizing repairs over and above limits I told you. not sighned by me and you have phone records that I called about 15 times wondering when the hell my truck would be done. oh that's right you blew me off and always had tony or someone else at shop talk to me because you were to busy to talk to a customer. i'm done with this you wanna sue me go ahead . I will counter sue and get my money back then.

D&D is very expensive and truly dishonest. Look up part # RR 171, echlin distributor cap and you'll see it cost about $22.99. D& D, or [redacted] the owner charged me $46.73. On another part # RR 173, echlin rotor cost $14.49. [redacted] charged me $28.54. When questioned, [redacted] told me that these items are part of Napa's 3 tier part system, Gold, Silver and Platinum. This 3 tier systems is only related to oil and air filters which I could not verified his answer and called Napa myself. They could not see why I was changed so much either. 3 tier is only on oil and air filters.
Dishonest?? You bet !!!!

Review: About a year ago I needed an oil change. I went to them because they were local and they were recommended to me by a friend. During the oil change they found something wrong, which was minor so I signed the paper for them to fix the one thing and left because it was going to take them a while. They called back with more things that were wrong with my car, which was not worth fixing. They said they'd junk it for me and send me a check for about $300. A couple months went by and I called, they said they only owed me $2.00 because they fixed everything that was wrong before junking it which I didn't authorize nor did they have paperwork on file saying I authorized it. I also signed my car over to them to junk before they fixed the stuff, so that's on them to pay for the parts, not me. They also kept my plates and refused to give them back. Every time I called it was "the boss isn't in" or "he'll call you back" I never once received a call from them and I gave them several chances and plenty of time to. I went to the police and they said they couldn't do anything about it, except have me fill out a complaint. I never got the lousy two dollars or my plates.Desired Settlement: I would please, like my $300 that is owed to me. I did not authorize them to fix the problems the car had, and why would I have them fix it when I was junking it? They scammed me out of money and took advantage of my trust in them. I don't care about the plates anymore because I cancelled them and am getting new ones. I gave them time to fix this problem themselves but now I'm just fed up. Thank you.

Response:

Review: went to dand automotive to have my 2002 ford truck fixed. it ran fine but the check engine light was on. [redacted] the owner told me for 500.00 he would get the light off and the truck running perfect. 1st they charged me an extra 92.00 for a vehicle inspection I knew nothing about. then they mysteriously found more problems with truck wich had run fine to begin with . my bill went from 750.00 wich was not permitted by me to 1800.00 total. I paid 1100.00 on bill but refuse to pay more till they fix truck right or have it fixed by another shop and dand would agree to release truck as soon as finished with at least minimum a 90 day warranty. until then they reported me to a credit bearue and they will not get the money either.Desired Settlement: repair vehicle or give me my money back for a job not finished.

Response:

To whom it may concern:This is in regards to the complaint issued by [redacted]. I do not agree with any of the statements he made based on the following:1. When we were first contacted by the customer he stated that the truck ran horrible, no power, pinging bad, check engine light was on. see the attached repair order I am sending you, at that time all he wanted was the truck to be tuned so that the check engine light stayed out.2. He also wanted to know if the truck had aftermarket heads on it, stated he had it at a repair shop earlier and they removed the valve covers but couldn’t tell him if the heads were after market at all. We inspected and did inform him, without removing the valve covers, that the engine had aftermarket heads on it.3. At this point due to how bad the vehicle ran we recommended that a preventative maintenance analysis be done on the vehicle to see whether or not the vehicle was worth repairing. He agreed to this.4. After the inspection we called the customer and informed him of all the issues with the truck, SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS ON, SHIFT INDICATOR IS LOOSE, ALIGNMENT IS OFF, EXHAUST LEAK, EGR TUBE IS LEAKING, ENGINE HAS A MISS FIRE, BRAKE PEDAL PULSE WHEN BRAKING, BOTH HEAD GASKETS LEAKING OIL, LEFT HEADER PIPE HAS CARBON AROUND FLANGE, INLET TO MUFFLER IS LOOSE, #1 COIL CONNECTOR IS BROKE AND GLUED TOGETHER, PLUGS ARE UNDER GAPPED, POWER STEERING RESERVOIR IS MISSING BRACKET TO ENGINE, COULD NOT DO A BRAKE INSPECTION DID NOT HAVE LUG NUT SOCKET IN VEHICLE, LEFT HEADER GASKET LEAKS, TRUCK HAS BAD MISS UNDER LOAD. After we gave the customer this list he still wanted to proceed with repairs. He wanted the valve covers removed and the cylinder heads torqued to see if that would stop the oil leaks, he wanted the egr tube replaced to see if that would richen the engine up, he wanted the tune done to turn off the check engine light.5. The first thing we did was remove the valve covers to torque the cylinder heads, at that time we found that the cylinder head bolts that were previously installed by the shop who put the heads on were not installed correctly, they were not lubed up prior to torqued them and they were stretched beyond manufacturers recommendations. We also noted at this time that the cams had adjustable cam gears installed on them for timing and that the bolts for these gears were loose and the cams were both fully rded. Called and spoke with the customer and explained his options and costs associated with the options and he choose to just have the cylinder head bolts replaced, to see if that would stop head gaskets from leaking oil, he did not want the cam timing set due to the cost involved. he stated to just tighten the bolts down where the cams were and let it go.6. We then replaced the egr tube. The customer did not want the other exhaust leaks repaired either due to the cost factor.7. We then called the customer again about tuning the truck to get the check engine light to go off and stay off and told him that the truck really needed to have the cam timing set, the misfire fixed, and the coil replaced that had the broken connector. The customer declined any of this work due to the cost and stated again all he wanted was the check engine light to stay off.8. We then tuned the truck so the check engine light would stay off, made notes on the invoice about the trucks other mechanical needs and that the truck was running as best as it could with the mechanical issues it had.The customer was kept informed of the progress and repairs being made and needed on his truck during the entire time the truck was here. We had contact by phone with the customer at least 6 times during the repair process. When the customer came in the bill was explained to him along with our pointing out again the additional repairs the vehicle needed. At that time the customer gave us $1100.00 CASH PAYMENT AND CHECKS FOR THE BALANCE THAT WE WERE TO DEPOSIT ONCE PER MONTH. at no time did the customer complain about the cost, he was informed of the costs every step of the way. We did not even know he had an issue with the work we did until we deposited his first check, 30 days after he picked up his truck, and he stopped payment on it. At that time we contacted the customer and asked why, he stated he wasn’t happy with the performance of his truck, we then again informed him that it was impossible for his truck to run correctly until the mechanical issues were repaired. He again declined repairs and refused to pay balance. It was at that time we turned him over to a collections agency and then after we did that he filed this complaint , in what I feel, was a vindictive way to get back at us. In closing we kept the customer informed during the entire repair process as to his trucks repair needs and the costs associated with those repairs. We only performed the repairs that the customer approved, we documented the additional repairs the truck needed and the customer signed the invoice that had these additional repairs noted on. the check engine light has not come back on in his truck so the repairs that we performed did correct the customers initial concerns. Any further repairs were at additional expense and the customer declined all of these. p.s.I have spoken with the customer since he filed this complaint and explained why his truck still runs bad and he agreed it ran terrible before he brought it in but that he had hoped it would run better afterwards. He agrees he owes us the money but stated he didn’t have it. He just wants to sell the truck because he can’t afford to fix it.

Response:

On June 2nd 2011 I had dropped off my [redacted] at D and D to have headers, exhaust and a tune installed which included turning of the skip shift on the vehicle. When I went to pick it up in July, which was way too long for them to have the car for the little time it should have taken to complete the job. The car had scrapes along the sideskirts which were not there when I dropped it off and it made a backfiring/ popping noise when deccelerating. [redacted] agreed to pay to repair the side skirts but when I would contact them about the exhaust issue he wouldn't call back or e-mail back. I was told he was on vacation or just not around. After not being able to get a hold of him I took my car to [redacted] in Oshkosh to have him look at my exhaust. The found multiple leaks and loose clamps on the exhaust due to poor installation on D an D's part. He also looked at the computer in the vehicle and said it didn't look like it had been tuned or anything. When I tried to reach D an D again about this I got the same responses, [redacted] is on vacation. When I finally got a response back [redacted] said that he did tune it but not with a hand held tuner like I had thought or like we had discussed because he said that you couldn't tune it with a hand held tuner. He also said he turned the skip shift off even though the light for it still indicated it was on. He also went on to say that the popping and back firing was normal per his contact with [redacted] (header manufacturer). He said to bring it in and he would look at it but he wouldn't be able to look at it for almost anoth half month because low and be hold he was going on vacation...again. I said I would bring it in but that was before talking exstensively with [redacted] of Green Bay. They contacted [redacted] directly and confirmed I could tune the vehicle with their handheld tuner and that the popping noise should not be there. So I brought my [redacted] to them to correct the issues. They tuned the car, turned off the skip shift (the light no longer comes on now) and the popping noise is gone. It was their conclusion that [redacted] never tuned the vehicle.
