Review: On 4/**/13 I ordered a [redacted] 8500 garage door from D&D Doors and they installed the door on 5/**. Rain water collects in the astragal and runs out the sides when the garage door is opened. The installer came on 8/** and put caulk in the astragal. The next rain showed the problem still exists. I spoke to the owner [redacted] on 8/** and several more times in the following weeks trying to get an acceptable manufacturer's solution for this problem. The only other corrective action now that the caulking didn't work, they want to drill weep holes in the astragal to allow water to drain out. The garage door is supposedly top of the line from [redacted], therefore I refuse to accept an inferior fix as previously stated. D&D Doors needs to stand behind the garage doors that they are selling, therefore I am asking that credit be issued toward another one of their manufacturer's garage doors.Desired Settlement: Credit toward another one of their manufacturer's garage doors.

On 5/**/13 we installed garage door for customer, on 5/*/13 Consumer complained that the exterior key switch needs a custom cover. We built her a custom cover and resolved the issue the same day. We then received a call about water getting in. The Owner returned to attempt to seal the gap at the bottom to prevent water from getting in the retainer. The owner returned again at the end of August to examine the issue again. He and [redacted] scheduled a repair for 9/**/13. He offered to replace the bottom retainer and use silicone to seal the opening. [redacted] agreed. On 9/**/13 Customer called to say she had spoken with the mfg. She wants the owner to document the problem with mfg. She asked him to wait until they offer a solution. The owner emailed the mfg and copied the homeowner. He emailed [redacted] the mfg response. He also emailed her and told her we would replace the bottom section and the bottom retainer and the asterical with a new one, that he would personally apply silicone between the retainer and the bottom section. Water will always seek the lowest level. We will do everything we can to prevent or reduce moisture infiltration. We value our customers and there satisfaction is very important to us. We measure our success by the happiness of our customers.

Sometimes companies in business for 40 years get careless. My expectations of D&D was to "do it right the first time" as their motto states. There has been at least 2 install issues, and the water collecting problem is possibly a third install issue.

This so called "great solution" sounds to me like a temporary way to hide an install problem. Owner says "it has always worked in the past"...for D&D. Looks like this problem has been around for sometime now. I am told the install instructions do not mention caulking this area. It seems strange to me that W.D. would keep manufacturing their doors with a known problem.

I started D & D Doors 40 years ago. Our focus has always been and will always be to exceed our customers expectations. As the owner

of the company I am responsible and accountable to our customers. In the last week of August I went to the customers home to access the situation. I offered several solutions, I told the homeowner that in my professional opinion the best solution to the problem, which has always worked in the past for us was to seal the area where the retainer meets the bottom section with a top quality silicon caulking, with a new bottom retainer and astral. The home owner told me that she would prefer to but the silicon so she was comfortable with the durability & warranty. We set an appointment date for the work to be done, she then called to say that she contacted the mfg and they had not been notified. I have email dated 8/**/13 which discussed the issue with the mfg. I have offered a great solution. I don't know why the homeowner is not willing to let me return and resolve the issue with the solution that we agreed upon. I prefer to communicate via email to prevent any miscommunication. Please have the homeowner contact me to set the appointment. I am very capable and willing to resolve the problem at her convenience. Thank you [redacted]
