D & D Insulation Reviews (3)

Review: [redacted] from D & D Insulation was contracted on November 21, 2013 to insulate the house and basement box beam. The house was insulated but the basement was never finished. Called and spoke to [redacted] several times. He acknowledged the issue and promised to complete the work, which was paid in full on Nov 21, 2013. He never finished the work but was paid in full.Desired Settlement: Wish the work to be completed by D & D Insulation; or, have D & D subcontract a different vendor to finish the work; or refund the portion for the basement.

Review: D & D was hired to remove what owner [redacted] said was improperly installed insulation from crawlspaces (paper backing was facing out & he said it should be against the wood "ceiling" between joists) & install new insulation. Also apply borax-treated cellulose layer in attic. He was on time & did good job cleaning up. He was polite & professional. I thought his work was done so well that I referred a friend to his company & they also hired him. He said the borax would repel rodents in the attic; it did seem to work for at least 2-3 years. He said his work was guaranteed & it was posted as such on [redacted] entry for his company.Around 2009-10, while having work done on utilities that involved a crewman entering one of the 2 crawlspaces, we both saw that at least 1/4 of the insulation had fallen from the joists & was either hanging in strips or completely on ground. It looked like there weren't enough support ties installed to keep them in place, though some of the ties had fallen off. Later, another utility man working in the attic said that most of the spaces above the soffits had been plugged with the cellulose and so weren't vented properly; he cleared away what he could. I called D&D's company # & owner [redacted] cell for months to ask him to return & fix the problems but he never returned my calls. So much for guaranteed work. His failure to fix the problems ruined what should have been a good job & would've been an excellent review. I was reminded of the issue Oct 23rd this year when another utility man had to access the crawlspace & even more insulation had fallen off. I called D&D but again no return call, so I called again & said I was going to post a negative review. He called w/in an hour & said he'd schedule to fix the insulation. Over the past month, I've since called him twice & get nothing but promises he'll call back to schedule the repair job. I'm therefore filing the complaint since he apparently is not going to do the work as promised.Desired Settlement: Return to site, fix insulation in both crawlspaces. Install new insulation to replace what has been lying on the ground, replace anything else that is hanging loose. Install nailed strips at least every 8-10 inches to retain insulation baffles in place so that they don't fall out again. Replace insulation around heating duct work if it's been damaged by falling off or rodent exposure due to reduced/falling insulation. Install vapor barrier on dirt floors as courtesy. No charge for these repairs.

Business

Response:

d and d insulation is no longer in business, even if it was this job was done over 7 yrs ago.and there is no warranty on fiberglass in crawl space ceilings. there is to many things to disturb fiberglass. she had people running wires under there, rodents traveling above, and moisture that's why people use spray foam now. She also said that someone told her to pull cellulose out towards soffit, she shouldn’t listen to someone who knows nothing about cellulose, its an open cell, it breathes, its not fiberglass. If u check my 34 years of business I have no complaints that speaks for itself.
