On Monday November 18th I took my 1990 Honda Civic AWD in to have clutch replaced. I was told by my mechanic in Goldendale that this clutch needed replacing and he could not do it, so take it to Honda Dealership. That Monday afternoon, I heard from Service guy, [redacted] who informed me that I did not need clutch replaced as it needed only adjusting. He continued to explain to me that I did need a radiator as there was severe amount of corrosion in radiator, as well as leak in motor. Because [redacted] told me the clutch did NOT require replacing, I did go ahead and have them repair radiator and tune car up for $834. I picked my car up on Wednesday November 20th, and upon driving back to Goldendale, the clutch started slipping again. I got home and called [redacted] immediately, who tried to tell me that perhaps the transmission was bad. So I made an appointment for Thursday November 21st at 10am to bring back my car. In the mean time, I checked out other transmission places in the Dalles and stopped and talked to them on the 21st prior to my appointment with this Griffith Honda service department. All said that the clutch required replacing, just as my mechanic initially informed me on November 15th. I did take it back to Honda at my appointment of 10am on 21st, and of course they now say that the clutch does need to be replaced. I would never have agreed to have the other work done on this honda, and had money for the clutch replacement, not an additional $834.00. Had I had appropriate information from this Griffith Honda Service Dept my clutch would have been replaced. Because they said my clutch was fine, I trusted this information and decided to have the other work done. Now my clutch still needs replaced and will be done by another company.
