D & H Roofing Reviews (1)

D & H Roofing has received your letter of complaint, dated January 29, 2018, concerning *** ** ***, *** *** *** StColumbus, Ohio 43207, which is a story home.Miss *** called D & H Roofing on December 1st, 2017, concerning a roof leak on the south side her home, leaving a
message on D & H Roofing's answering machine to talk to her father-in-law about the roof leakMrP*** returned her call and spoke to her father-in-law and set up a time to inspect the roof to repair the shingles and inspect the chimney flashings(The cement workers *** or her father-in-law hired to do the chimney work nailed boards on the roof to set up their scaffolding and did not repair the holes they had made in the shingles on her roof, approximately tabs of shingles)Her father-in-law gave MrP*** the shingles (that matched the shingles on the roof) to repair the roof from the damage that the "cement contractor/worker" did to the roofMrP*** installed the shingles that was given to him and inspected the flashings around the chimney and resealed the chimney flashings with roof caulking as neededDuring inspection of the chimney itself, MrP*** found that the chimney "tuck-pointing" was incorrectly done and not finished on the top sectionMrP*** took pictures of the work and showed the father-in-law and *** the incorrectly done tuck-pointing and the non-finished section of the top of the chimneyMrP*** told her that water would be able to penetrate the chimney and cause a leak inside her homeMrP*** recommended that she have the chimney and top section of the chimney correctly repaired before winter sets in. MrP*** did return to her home the week of January 22, and found that the chimney was not finished on top (cementing the crown, which is the top of the chimney, the most important part) and the tuck-pointing was not re-done, which could be the cause of her leak. MrP*** is a roofing contractor, not a cement contractorHe does not do tuck-pointing on chimneys, nor does he do cement workMrP*** told *** that it needs to be done as soon as possibleAnd *** did not do that. Now that the 4th roofer has been called, MrP*** would like to know their opinion, if possible*** did not tell Mr.P*** about the first roofers that she had contactedHopefully, the 4th roofing contractor is licensed/bonded/insured as D & H Roofing is also. As for the disputed amount, D & H Roofing did what we said we would do--inspected and installed shingles and inspected and resealed the chimney flashings with roof caulking as needed, a roof repair at a fair price. The "crown" of the chimney still needs to be done and the tuck-pointing needs to be redone by a licensed cement professional and that is what D & H Roofing recommendsThat should stop her leak.Thank you for your time and please let us know of the outcome or if you need further information, please feel free to contact us at the number above.Sincerely,D & H Roofing
