Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: FIRST. I AM WILINGTO TAKE THE CAR TO [redacted] AND IF THEY CONVEY MY ISSUE IS NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE CARBURETOR [redacted] PUT IN, I WILL DROP THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, [redacted] MUST AGREE IF [redacted] FINDS THE ISSUE IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE CARBURETOR HE PUT IN, THEN [redacted] MUST PAY [redacted] TO FIX THE PROBLEM OF DANGEROUS SUDDEN CUT-OFF OF GAS AND SUDDEN ENGINE STALL WHEN STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP OR TRYING TO CHANGE LANES WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. As stated prior, this is a problem I did not have until [redacted] replaced the carburetor. [redacted] is 100% incorrect about almost 100% of his response. If I personally worked on the car and burned the spark plug wires or the alternator wires and asked him to repair same, it has nothing to do with the carburetor. It is simply work he gets paid to do. And yes, this is a custom car with many features that are not factory. Those features have absolutely zero to do with this issue. I did not have this particular and very specific issue before [redacted] replaced the carburetor. The old carburetor worked fine and driving after cold starts was never an issue. This can be verified by the owner I bought this from who frequently drove and put this show vehicle in car shows. [redacted] work has left me with an engine that has a dangerous sudden cut-off of gas and diving of acceleration problem when cold. Remember, [redacted] told me he drove the car on cold mornings twice after he put the new carburetor on. He told me he could not duplicate the dangerous sudden cut-off and engine dying and diving problem that both my wife and I clearly explained happens to us. Remember, I later asked [redacted] on a cold morning to get in the car and I would take him for a ride when the engine was cold. Remember I took him for a drive and before we could get into the street in front of oncoming traffic, the engine stalled badly. By the time the engine started running again the oncoming traffic almost wrecked us right in front of his shop (note ... The driver side door incidentally). Then, the first or second red light we came to, I accelerated normally  from a stop with a car behind. The engine suddenly stalled and the car dove downward, and we almost got hit and maybe killed from the rear. It was at this time I told [redacted] he never test drove the car because the trip meter was exactly the same as when I left the car at his shop. What all of this comes down to is [redacted] will lie and create derailing/divisive outside issues to throw people off the exact track of the specific issue. A good and reputable mechanic would not have lied and left my wife and I in serious dangerous conditions. A reputable mechanic would have conveyed they thought the issue was the carburetor, and burned spark plug wires. NOTE: .... he should have simply replaced the spark plugs wires, first, and then let me drive the car to see if this simple and less expensive work took care of the stuttering engine (cold or hot) when I brought the car to him. Instead, to make more money, he told me I had both burned spark plug wires and an expensive carburetor replacement problem.  Remember, before he worked on the car for stuttering problems the stuttering was when the engine was hot or cold. The new issue is not the same as before he replaced the carburetor. Total new and different. Before he replaced the carburetor I had no problems starting the engine when cold and immediately getting on the road with no sudden cut-off of gas and diving when the engine suddenly stopped running. This issue is caused by [redacted] wanting to make more money for repair work. When his repair work created the new issue he tried to get out of repairing a problem he created. He obviously got in too deep for his mechanical acumen. He seemingly does not have a clue how to fix the issue with the new carburetor he put on. How to set-up the choke, how to tune the timing and how to put the vacuum advance where it needs to be. Yes, the Internet clearly shows videos of how to do all three. And yes, the booklet that came with the carburetor clearly states these issues are part of the carburetor set-up when the new carburetor is put on. Yes, the Internet and the booklet that came with the new carburetor convey clearly these adjustment have to be made or sudden gas cut-off and sudden dying of the engine when cold will happen.  EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF NOT DONE CORRECTLY. I am willing to take this car to [redacted] and if they say the carburetor system [redacted] put on is not the problem, I will let this issue come to a rest.  However, if they say the dangerous cold start followed by sudden gas cut-off, diving of acceleration, etc., is the carburetion problem, and they know how to fix it (which per this complaint and [redacted] response, [redacted] does not know how to fix the problem of which he told me he could fix when I paid him $1,000 to fix same), then [redacted] must agree to pay [redacted] to fix the carburation connected problem. NOTE:  And if he does not know how to fix it after telling me for $1,000 he could fix it, why doesn't he refund me the $1,000. The fact is before I brought this car in there was a stuttering misfire type issue. There was not a dangerous sudden cut-off of gas or diving of acceleration. The stuttering was fixed by replacing the spark plug wires. It was when [redacted] installed a new carburetor that the dangerous and sudden cut-off of gas and diving of acceleration started.  This issue is totally caused by [redacted] putting on a new carburetor and then not knowing how to make adjustments so when the engine was started cold it is ready to drive safely (just as all of us expect to get into our cars, start the engine and immediately be ready to drive safely).  [redacted] was totally unprofessional with his actions of walking away from me instead of discussing the choke issue on this carb. [redacted] wanted to yell at me from a distance of 20 to 50 feet. When I approached him more than once, he walked away. At one time I was I his shop looking at my engine and he told me to get out of his shop because he did not have insurance others.  Yet, many times I had been to his shop and customers and outsiders were in his shop walking around. The reason [redacted] wanted me out of his shop was to humiliate me, and show his aggression when ask questions he did not have correct answers for. I cannot recommend the services of [redacted] considering he required I pay him $1,000 after he said he could fix the problem of a stuttering engine. I did not have a gas sudden gas cut-off or dangerous dying of the engine when cold when the old carburetor was on. NOTE:   [redacted] does not provide legally required documentation via info on his receipt showing the work done, price of parts, description of parts, number of hours worked and price per hour. It appears to me [redacted] may be trying to skirt the laws for business tax evasion purposes. I can take this up with the IRS. Can anyone ever trust [redacted] to do work on their vehicle when the receipts (or non-receipts) are very questionable in regards to the law? If anyone one reads everything I have described, my well thought out information leaves [redacted] with zero credibility for responding strictly to the specific problem.  Thank you [redacted]    NOTE: I am ready to take my Vette to [redacted] if [redacted] will agree to pay the bill if they find this is a carburetion connected problem. Remember, when [redacted] took my $1000.00 he said he could fix the problem. As a matter of fact he told my wife and me he could fix anything.
[redacted]

I will not set back and let [redacted] bash my business I have countless customer that are happy with my work and have been the whole time ive worked on there vehicle ive done nothing but try to help resolve the problem I will not pay no other shop or continue to work on Jims vehicle in no aspect the way I do my work order is within the law as per my CPA furthermore what does that have to do with the complaint [redacted] can take his vehicle where ever he like at his own expense

[redacted] bought a car on the internet he has had multiple problems with his custom corvette every time I work on the car and get it where its drives fine he takes it [redacted] and work on it and causes more problems ask him about the time he burnt the wiring to the alternator trying to work on the...

car after it left my shop. the car is not safe because of the front end is not set up correctly with after market parts The problem with the car is cold fuel consumption u have to let a carbureted vehicle warm up all of the emission devices have been taken off (which is illegal) by state and federal law the problem is there is no compensation for a cold engine. from the factory they have devices to richen the fuel mixture when the ambient temperature is cool to cold have been taken off this  carburetor does not have provision to richen the fuel mixture like a fuel injected vehicle [redacted] believes everything he read on the internet some of the thing he reads may work but the car does not have original carb or enrichment devices for cold start if i tune the carb in cold weather he will have to come back when the weather is hot to retune as the ambient temps rise everything I sold him he needed and some he want to control my repair process and tell me how to fix it using the internet when he is obviously is not telling the hole story
