D J B Wholesale Reviews (2)

Review: I came to DJB WHOLESALE in[redacted], SC a few weeks ago looking for a cheaper, dependable car that would get me back and forth from school, work, and my [redacted] reserve station 3 hours away in **. I bought a 98' Pontiac Firebird and was put under the impression that it was in good condition and had no issues whatsoever. This was not the case, shortly after driving off the lot I noticed the smell of gas pouring through my air vents from a gas leak as well as some fluid leaking into my driver and passenger floorboards from the engine. This worried me and I had planned on bringing it back to the lot within the next couple of days. I did not even make it that far. The car started smoking and immediately stalled and would not start. I am now stuck with a worthless vehicle and a blown transmission. I contacted the dealership and asked them to help me out or rectify this Lemon of a car they had sold me. They refused to help me in any way and said that it was my fault the car was broken. The owner of DJB Wholesale is [redacted]. I believe he knew there were significant problems with the vehicle and sold it to me regardless and now is attempting to make it out that all of these problems are on me. In less than 3 weeks the car had a gas leak, a hole in the tire, fluid leaking from the engine into the car, as well as engine and transmission failure. There is nothing I could have done to prevent all of these problems. I only had the car for 3 weeks. I am suffering now due to his [redacted] and dishonest business practices.I have been contacted by two other people who have had similar problems from the same dealer and can provide their testimonies if needed.Desired Settlement: I would either like my $1000 down payment returned to me so that I may attempt to purchase another vehicle from another dealer.orI would like to be provided with a similarly priced, working vehicle with no problems, and rollover my contract from the broken car to the working one.

Response:

On 11/29/13 [redacted] and his father came to DJB Wholesale to buy a car. the test drive and thorough personal inspection of the vehicle by himself and his father, [redacted] decided to purchase a 1998 Firebird.

The car was sold with a warranty that covers the engine and transmission for 30 days from the date of purchase. Any repairs covered under the warranty are a 50-50 split between DIB Wholesale and the buyer (copy enclosed).

Three weeks [redacted] purchased the vehicle he informed us the vehicle had been

abandoned on the highway outside of [redacted] on his route to [redacted] because the car stop running. He also stated at that time that he had “meant” to bring the vehicle in prior, however this was the first contact we had with [redacted] since the purchase. At this time he also informed us that the vehicle allegedly had been leaking fluids for several weeks. Had he brought the car in when he first suspected issues we could have fixed them While they were still small. However, [redacted] chose to continue driving the vehicle with the alleged issues until the vehicle broke down on him.

DJB Wholesale had the vehicle towed to [redacted] garage in [redacted], SC at our expense. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the mechanic said the vehicle was running hot which caused the engine to seize. We then had the vehicle towed to DJ B Wholesale from [redacted], SC, again at our expense.

It is the position of DJB Wholesale that had [redacted] brought the car in when he first suspected fluids leaking and had known that the car was having trouble that he should not have continued to drive the vehicle for weeks. The engine issues could have been avoided and the vehicle would not have needed to be abandoned on the freeway. To drive the vehicle on a trip for hundreds of miles while knowing it had problems was bad judgment. DJB wholesale should not be held liable for all of the repairs. At the very least, it would have been wise for [redacted] to stop driving when the car began to overheat.

DJB Wholesale will honor the 30-day warranty according to the contract terms. Current estimated repair costs are $1400-$1600 for the engine repair, if transmission problems are indeed found the estimate will increase. Per contract terms, upon delivery of the repaired vehicle, [redacted] will be billed for 50% of the costs.

We pride ourselves on delivering reliable, low cost, used vehicles. The mechanical warranty we provide on all our vehicles is proof of our dedication to this.
