Deposit made to design custom engagement ring, identified to be a secret to customer's fiance. Bf cust.called, finished product posted on internet.
My fiance made deposit for custom engagement ring to be designed. This was identified to be a secret to his gf until the proposal. He gave design instructions and a large deposit. The ring was completed and before my fiance (D&K's customer) was contacted to be notified the ring had been completed, it was posted on social media (facebook) and advertised for sale. I had "friended" D&K many months before this process when we were researching business in our area. I had forgotten that I was connected to them. I was checking my facebook and there on the screen is the ring that looked similar to the one Kevin said he "wished he could crest." I knew it was the ring he was designing for me. D&K were showing off their work and stating it was for sale. My boyfriend hadn't even been contacted yet and he was the one that requested the design and put down the deposit (sponsorship) for the initial ring design process. When he contacted the business owner Kim, she stated that she always puts pictures of her projects on social media, and offered no apology for spoiling his request to have it secret until the engagement. He was not offered any refund of his deposit. I believe this is terrible customer service and am requesting 2 things. 1. An apology for thinking of yourself and your business before your customers needs We did not mind that you made more then one and planned to sell the ring in mass quantities however you knew it was a secret very special occasion, the least you could have done was contact Kevin and ask him if it was ok to post it on social media. If the answer was no, you would have only needed to wait approx 2 wks until the engagement and then could have posted the pictures as often as you wanted. 2. A partial refund of our deposit (50%) at the time you sell the ring in your store. Obviously you will sell the ring. Do you think it's right that you profit our $800 and another $1500 more (or whatever you price the ring at?) In my opinion you have a golden opportunity to make this right and are choosing the selfish, slimy ground here. If this were you and your husband at the time of your engagement and he had worked many extra months to save for an engagement ring and someone did this to him, I think you would understand our plight. It was very poor customer service. I am not sure you our entitled to the deposit, as we did not have a contract written up. You now have the opportunity to do the right thing. We are asking for the 2 things above.
