On Aug. 1, 2011, I visited www.nationalrto.com looking for info on washer. On page 2 of the appliances section, Frigidaire model# GLTF-2940FS is advertised for 24 monthly payments of
$78.11 totaling $1,874.64 or 90 days same as cash for $899.99. I called National Rent to Own location in Warrenton and spoke with ____ who took my credit application over the phone. After having the application approved, ___ quoted me a price of $110.02 for 24 months totaling $2,640.48 or 90 days same as cash for $1,249.99. I advised ___ that we must be talking about different machines, then read him the description and model number for the machine that I had called about. He said that he didn't show anything on his computer at the store under that model number, that he would look into it and call me back in a few minutes. Several minutes later ____ did call back and informed me that the model number I had called about was an old number, that they hadn't carried that model in a couple of years and that that model may even be discontinued. I surfed back to page one of appliances on the National RTO site and asked ____ if the washer he had quoted was the same as the red front load washer pictured with the red dryer, read the description and was preparing to read the model number when I noticed that it said "models vary". (The washer/dryer pair were ,advertised for $119.99 for 24 months totaling $2,879.76 or 90 days same as cash for $1,999.99.) ____ said he couldn't be sure that it was the same model without the number, but consulted his current copy of the National RTO 'weekly specials' circular to see if he could possibly cross reference. The circular quoted yet a third set of prices that I didn't even bother to write down as I was getting pretty agitated by this time. It was at this point that I advised Royce that this sounded like a bait and switch and that I would be contacting the Revdex.com and possibly the State Attorney General about the incident. ____ apologized and stated that he didn't blame me because the discrepancies didn't seem right to him either. I thanked him for his time and hung up.
