Son Plumbing, Inc., was contacted by the customer (July 23, 2015)to evaluate what could be done about water leaking into his basement during heavy rains
From that evaluation the customer was provided a professional bid that outlined installing
French Drain System to re-route the water away from his basementThe bid consisted of two stepsStep One, being a French Drain System to be installed in the crawl space of the basementStep Two, to install a French Drain System along the outside perimeter of the foundation to divert water away from the basement
The customer only wanted Step One installed, even though he was informed, on several occasions, that only doing Step One would not resolve the problem of water getting into his basement, and that the whole French Drain System should be installed
The customer responded via email (on August 3, 2015)that he wanted to go with Step One (French Drain in crawl space of basement) ONLY at this time, and when money became available he would have Step Two (French Drain System on the outside)done at a later date
Step One of the French Drain System was installed on August 17-21, This French Drain System was installed according to code, which calls for the system to be below floor-gradeThe piping was installed between 8" to 10" below floor grade, with a gravity slope to the sump pump pit which was installed at 16" to 18" below floor gradeThis French Drain System was installed well within IPC Code RequirementsThe entire installation of Step One of the French Drain System was done by a Master Plumber
On August 24, 2015, The customer called to inform us that a PVC fitting had come apartSon Plumbing, Inc., went over that day and re-glued the fitting that had come apart and re-checked all the rest of the fittings, which were secure
On January 10, 2016, the customer called and said his basement was taking on some water (after a heavy rain)Son Plumbing, Inc., went back out there on January 11, 2016, to assessed that the French Drain System that we put in was functioning correctly and the dirt was dry over the French Drain System that we installed
Son Plumbing, Incobserved that water had seeped in the basement in another location, not near the French Drain System that we had installedSon Plumbing, Inc., saw no evidence that the customer's basement had flooded (as he claims), and we have pictures to prove that fact
The customer's real problem is that he chose to not have the entire French Drain System installed
