Review: We hired this company approx 3yrs ago. Since the first date started until present they have been here approx 10-12 times fixing problems. Our roof started leaking into our kitchen right where the new addition was added. They came back approx 6-8mos ago. They fixed the leak and repaired the crack (which was a 20ft crack). He came back 3 times to repair it and ended up just painting...

Dates of complaints. I have 15 texts, 8 phone calls, 9 emails over the past 3yrs plus he refuses to finish the job. I'm not sure of each date of contact over the 3-3 1/2 years. They were still working on fixing their problem last month. Now, he refuses to even communicate with us.

The crack - 20 1/2 ft wide and it totally does not match our ceiling. All we are asking is "paint our addition." Finish your job!! Had an inspector plus two contractors over to look at it and they ALL commented, I can't believe a company would leave a $60,000 job unfinished like this when it would only take $400.00 for him to complete his work. They also said to talk to an attorney because the contract he wanted us to sign to finish "it is" work was borderline illegal. FYI: Yes, we have sent calls and emails, he refuses to respond.Desired Settlement: A $400 job to complete what we paid for. $60,000 addition to finish his job. He offered us $480 to finish it ourselves, but refused because he wanted us to sign a contract saying we could not talk to you, CCB, FB, Angie's List or friends.

Approximately 3 to 4 years ago we were hired by Mrs. [redacted] to build an addition on their home. As part of adding on to the home, the ridge line for the addition was built at a 90 degree angle to the existing ridge line, which caused a valley on each side where the old roof and the new roof come together. In the 2nd winter after the addition was done we were told that the ceiling was cracking. As we looked and investigated we found that the sheet rock tape at the joint had come loose because of moisture. We got in the attic and found the source of the moisture, which was the valley. So we went up on the roof and found that the valley was completely clogged with debris from trees and the gutters were half to ¾ full of debris from trees also (these were new gutters that were installed with the new addition). We cleaned the debris out of the valley's and inform them that the cause of the sheet rock damage was that the valley was clogged which caused water to back up under the shingles and leak in the valley area, which then dripped on to the sheet rock ceiling which caused the tape joint to come loose on the upper side (attic side) of the sheet rock, the joint is like a channel and once the water gets into it, it runs down it, which cased the tape joint to come loose in a few areas along it path. I explained this to them and explained that they needed to maintain the roof by keeping the valleys clean and they needed to have their gutters cleaned. Jamie (husband), said that he understood and that things had been neglected because [redacted] had been ill.

[redacted] insisted that we repair the ceiling and as a matter of goodwill, I had the sheet rocker come over and repair the tape joint and texture the area to match. I paid the sheet rocker to make the repair (at a cost $105.00) and did not bill the homeowner.

[redacted] then insisted that I paint the repaired area and again as a good will jester I agreed to touch up paint the repaired area. Jamie and I searched their garage for the original left over paid and we were unable to find it. So we purchased another gallon of the same original paint ($38.00 cost) and went and painted the repaired area. When we were painting it we found that the color did not match because the ceiling and walls of their home had a heavy layer of soot on them. We noted that there were many candles in the home (pictures attached) which would produce soot. We also noted that the fire place glass was broken on the door and that the gasket of the fire place door is in bad condition, these seem to be the most obvious reasons for the soot. We went ahead and finish painting over the patched area so that the raw sheet rock mud would be sealed.

[redacted] called and told me that the paint did not match and I told her I was aware of that and began to explain. She was yelling at me and being derogatory towards me. I felt that no good would come from continuing the conversation we were having so I ended the call. She began a borough of text messages late at night demanding that I paint the entire ceiling. I asked her to stop texting me and email me. I explained to her in the emails what the problems were and that the cause was due to their neglect to maintain their roof and suggested that they resolve the soot issue as I believe it was hazardous to them.

I think that it is also important to note that the roof has not leaked and damaged the ceiling since we cleaned the valleys and informed them to maintain them.

I explained to her that a roof is a system of layered materials designed for water to run down, off and into gutters. You can make a roof leak by causing the water to back up under the shingles. That is why they have slope to make the water runoff.

[redacted] sent me another borough of text messages and emails demanding that I paint her ceiling or she was going to damage my business reputation by filing complaints wherever she could and having her friends and herself would post pictures all over Facebook. I again explained to her that this was not my fault but she continued to harass me and intimate me by telling me of all the complaints that she was going to send out and that she has lots of free time on her hands and it was going to be hard for me to regain my reputation because of what she was going to do if I didn't paint her ceiling.

I contacted a painted and asked what it would cost to paint the ceiling and he said $1.00 per sq ft to prime/seal which is necessary because of the soot and $1.00 per sq ft to apply a finish coat over the primer. The sq footage is 208 +/-, so I offered to split the $416 cost with [redacted], which she refused. In her text and emails she repeatedly said "paint me ceiling and we are done or else she will start filing complaints". So I got a mutual agreement release from an attorney and offered to pay the full $416.00 and she sign the agreement. She then said that she was going to have to spend some of her time calling around to find a painter to paint it and she wanted to be compensated for that too and demanded that I pay $480.00 instead of the $416.00. I agreed to pay the $480.00 provided that she sign the agreement which she agreed to do in an email. So I mailed her a copy of the agreement and emailed her telling her that I had mailed it to her and that when I received it back I would mail the check to her. She then emailed me and wanted the name and phone number of the painter that I got the price from. She then later decided to not sign to agreement and demanded that I send her the check without her signing the agreement or come paint her ceiling.

When I did not respond to that demand, she went on Angie's List and wrote a big long nasty gram full of twisted half truths and filed the complaint with you which is also full of twisted half truths.

I feel that I have gone way above and beyond in an effort of goodwill to make repairs to their home which were a result of their neglect and soot damage and they refused to except any responsibility and is now viscously attacking me in attempt to bullying me into making repairs to their home that are not my responsibility.

Thank you for your help with this matter.
