I talked to the customer before the vehicle was towed to our shop by the customer's friendHe stated that when his friend
borrowed the truck to tow a vehicle on a trailer the transmission wouldn't go into reverseOur customer already had made plans for his friend to tow the vehicle to our shop for us to check it outWhen the friend arrived with the customer's truck our technician was in the parking lot as our customer's friend was unloading our customers' truckOur technician witnessed the friend proceed to drive the truck off the back of the roll-back wrecker without lowering itWhen this happened, the truck dropped approximately feet to the ground and hit EXTREMELY hardThe technician witnessed the truck hit the grouind so hard the bumper was immediately damagedThe technician then came directly to get me and describe what had happenedI then went out to question the friend and he brushed me offI said to the friend my tech just watched you drop this truck off this wrecker and damage the front end and bumper and I can clearly see it is damagedHe ignored me, finished up and leftWe made note of the incident and proceeded to check out the transmission and get the repair doneNothing happened to or about the customer's truck while it was being worked on, driven or parked at our facility, other than being driven off the wrecker by the customers' friendWhen the customer's aunt showed up to pick up the truck, she noticed lots of scratches and hard rub marks on the paint she insisted were not there beforeShe also stated the truck had been detailed and did not have these scratches in it before the customers friend had possession of the truckThe appearance of the truck did not change from when it was dropped off the wrecker till it left our shopWe would have had no way of knowing about wether any scratches or damage was new or oldI would say, based on the friend being untrustworthy and not explaing to our customer what we witnessed happen, he likely knows something about the damage to the paint(scratches etc.) and, furthermore, whomever was driving the truck when the transmission failed would be , at least to me, the most likely source for all these unanswered questions.The transmission didn't have just minor warranty type failure, it had been driven so hard that some components were severely overheated( like when Mudding/Racing ) I believe the customer when he says the truck was fine the last time he saw it before we had possession of it, however, it would serve him well to choose his friends more wisely
