Review: On June 5th I went to get an estimate for a sofa to be upholstery. The cost was 1195.00 and I have gave a 500.00 deposit. He told me that they would pick up the coach on Friday and I had to call him to remind him. That night I change my mind because I can by a brand new sofa for the price. The next day that morning I went back and told him that I did not want to do it and I wanted my money back. He told me that I could not get my money back because he had already ordered the material. I told him that it did not say anything on the paper I had that stated I could not get my money back, he kept saying I sorry, I told him I will sue him he will not keep my money, within the 30 minutes of so he wrote a check for 250.00 which I took to the bank. But I want all my money back. He is part of DL Furniture store in the area. I don't know if he ordered the material or not. I called him an left a message on his phone that he should give me half of the material back if the ordered it, but no answer. On the customer copy it estimate, all jobs below 500 will be picked up with 30 days, above 500.00 90 days etc....And no. 7 which he used against me when I was asking for my money which states This form required by sections 19162 and 19163 of the Business and Professions Code provide that no charge shall be made in excess of the estimated price without the oral or written consent of the customer, I told him I don't know what the section codes mean and shouldn't that be something you tell a customer if you not trying to rip them off.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

We understand why she is upset but as a business, we cannot allow our customers to request money back after they've APPROVED the estimate to start the job for material that is specifically ordered for the job. The deposit was made so our business can order fabric uniquely for her sofa. She singlehandedly picked the fabric herself and allowed us to order the fabric with the deposit. The fabric companies we work with does not allow refunds either because they too have to size the fabric uniquely to our order. It is not material that can be used for any other jobs so a refund request is unreasonable. It is only when the material arrived and we were ready to start that she didn't want to finish the start the job anymore. She said it was too expensive. She should have decided this when she approved the estimate and allowed us to begin the job. The deposit of $500 and the signature to the contract/estimate gives us the go. We wouldn't order fabric for her if we knew she was going to change her mind later on. Our business does not work like that. We are an upholstery shop that creates and designs furniture differently and uniquely for all orders. Our customers tell us what to order and any excess material from that job is non reusable. Again, if our business allowed customers to custom order whatever they like and then change their mind later on, we would be out of business.

He had not ordered the material. I went the very next day that morning to tell him I did not want to have the job done. His place have rolls of material that there already, my sofa was a regular size sofa, so yes he can use that fabric if he has it. I have the the paper that I sign and there is nothing that says about no refund. He told me to call him two days later to come and get the sofa. This man did not want to give any of my money back, but he did give me half. Customers changes their mind all the time and I did the very next day, if this is a big issue with him why not have that on his paper that customers sign and tell them. Unacceptable give me my money are give me the material. When I went to the store that morning he was calling about the material.
