Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted] , and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: [Your Answer Here]Ok moving further backI called your office and spoke to [redacted] saying that I had seen the ad on [redacted] I explained that I had an older model washing machine and dryerI attempted to give her the brand and model numbers, but she said that was not necessaryI made appointment after appointment which Munir was unable to keepEven [redacted] said that this was unacceptableWhen Munir came the first time, he did a very superficial examinationWhen [redacted] came after the leak, and I asked why he said "That was because we don't like to work on old machines"( and that's a quote)If neither [redacted] or Munir like to work on old machines, [redacted] should have said so, and Munir should have said so on the first visitWhen I specifically asked if I could use the machine, which generally means it will work- he said YESThen because I got the go ahead, I called another company in to clean out the dryer ventI certainly would not have done that if I was told that I should not use the washing machineNow for the recommendations:When Munir was here the first time, I said that I would want to replace the machines when I did a renovationWe discussed moving the location of the washer and dryer because when I was ready I would call on D & M to do the installationI had assumed they did good work. When I used the washing machine and it leaked, Munir came back and then said that I shouldn't use itHe was going to give me an option to purchase in the meantimeI wanted a less expensive machine to tide me over until I was ready to renovate my kitchen and then get the better machines. At that visit (and just to note the hoses didn't leak at all until the machine was used) if Munir knew that the hoses were broken, and likely more, he should have turned the valve which provides water to the machineI couldn't imagine that a 'professional' who deals with water issues would be unaware that the water should be turned offHad ne even mentioned that he didn't, I would have asked the handyman to turn it off. When [redacted] was here ( at which point he called Munir and had a heated discussion about his advice that I could use the machine, and about his error in not turning off the water) and insisted on turning the water back on, within minutes there was water in the machine againI sent a photo but of course he said 'contact your building'.As regards payment, when I called [redacted] and said I had the old machines, and should I pay on [redacted] *** she said I could pay the technician when he gets thereI gave Munir a check, which had checks after itD & M didn't cash the checkNow with this negligence the reason seems pretty obviousAlso, I didn't know until [redacted] explained when you pay thru Angies list the vendor receives only a small portion of the fundsHe told me this in our exchanges about the situationI am sorry that this has been out of pocket for them, but it does not excuse them for their very unsatisfactory initial examination, and their negligence in not turning off the waterThe difficulty in matching my wood parquet and getting someone to fix it, plus the expensive nature of such a job far outweighs parking coststhe damage occurred as a direct result of their actions In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above Sincerely, [redacted]

No money was collected by D&M The money for all the visits weren't even collected We paid out of pocket for all the tolls and gas to help our customer ease her mind. Mounir did say the first visit that the appliances were old and that new appliances should be purchased He stated that it will eventually turn for the worse because of its condition He couldn't give an exact date of when the appliance would go bad He did talk about getting new appliances and there were text records of purchasing new ones, which would mean that the customer would be purchasing new ones since it was requested by the customer of which brands were good On 6/**, customer called saying there was very little leak around the gasket. It wasn’t the major leak the customer was referring to, which happened after Mounir stated to not use itAgain, on the 7/* appointment, he did say that it shouldn't be used The leak happened after that, which would mean the customer turned it on after Mounir said to not use it If the appliance isn't being used, it would leak all of a sudden And on the 7/* appointment, Mounir did state that the hose and water valve needed to be replaced If things are broken, obviously it shouldn't be used *** shouting at Mounir would clearly be unprofessional and he would have called Mounir to ask for what was done as Mounir was the technician He would've asked why the water valve wasn't turned off to make sure that Mounir knew the protocol *** just wanted to hear the obvious answer which is at apartment complexes, it is the landlord’s responsibility as technicians turning it off would become a liability issue The Bosch appliances were stated to be too expensive by the customer, which is when Mounir suggested the washer dryer combo that would have the right voltage and smaller storage for the closet And as for the plumber, his profession is working with the water and pipes of a location We are household appliance technicians as if there is a leak, it is the customers responsibility to notify their apartment complex landlord If it were a private home, the issue of liability wouldn't come into play because the owner is thereWe strive to do our best and provide fair service, which is also why we offered to take a look at the dishwasher and that diagnostic fee wasn't even paid We are not out to take people's money nor ruin their homes

This customer has been giving us a hard time when we haven't made a single cent from them As our contract with *** ***, the amount she paid for the service call went directly to them and we don't get a portion as it was a deal for us to pay service and we get advertising We went
out to *** *** times into NYC that forces us to block out half a day for her per trip with tolls and traffic Tolls itself is $round trip We spent out of pocket $just on tolls with a weeks worth of gas We were more than courteous and explained the situation to her everytime we went out there If we collected money in return of a job, obviously we would've done everything we can and returned money as it is ethical to do so However, we haven't made anything as she paid *** *** directly, and we've explained several times to purchase a new appliance *** called on 6/* 10:49am and made an appointment for 6/** 9am-12pm.Mounir started the job on 6/** as scheduledHe stated the following to her:Her appliances are old and will eventually go badCouldn’t give a time frame of when but it will go badIt’s like when someone is sick, you just can’t wait and see if you’ll get betterEither way you’re sick and you just don’t know when it’ll get worseAlso, the dryer was a fire hazard because of this bucket being usedI showed her a reliable brand as she requested, and I assumed she’s purchasing a new one and not using the old one because she said she likes the Bosch that I showed herI never had to spell out to any customer that you shouldn’t use an appliance if I tell them that it’ll go bad because it’s old.*** called on 6*** saying that there was very little leak around the gasket and an appointment was made for 7/*. On 7/*, Mounir stated to not sue the appliance as the parts required to fix the leak were discontinuedI told her the hose and water valve were brokenI didn’t turn off the water as it is the customer’s job to tell the landlord as per technicians aren’t permitted to turn off the water without the landlord knowing at an apartment complexIf it were a private home, I wouldn’t need to ask as it is their propertyShe also showed me where she wanted her new washer and dryerShe then told me that the Bosch was too expensive so I suggested a washer dryer combo to fit her location of where the original washer and dryer areAlso, there was an issue with the voltageI left the job site with the notion in mind that she was purchasing a new appliance since I told her to not use it and we discussed options. On 7/**, she called stating there was water leaking “everywhere.” There wouldn’t be water “everywhere” unless she turned on the appliance after I told her to not use itShe then left a voicemail stating that the floor is drenchedShe then spoke with ***, the co-owner, tweaking a little of minute details of what happened each dayWe have record of what was recommended

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]I contracted through Angies list but D & M requested that I make a check payable to them directlyon Mounirs first visit. At that visit he did a very rudimentary check(under 5 minutes) without allowing the machine to fill at all, and without doing anything but looking around the floor with his IPhone. He didn't say that the hoses were broken, but that I could use the machine. He said I need a new piece of equipment for the dryer to vent it. When I called another service to clean the dryer hose, they laughed and said the bucket on top of the dryer was sufficient to vent it. It simply needed to be attached and then cleaned regularly. After I used the washing machine once and saw water on the floor Munir came back and at that point.. said.. the hoses are broken, and cant be replaced. HE DIDNT BOTHER TO SHUT OFF THE WATER TO THE WASHING MACHINE, AND THAT RESULTED IN A LEAK. The leak ruined the floor outside the closet which houses the unites. When [redacted] came to survey the damage and called Munir he was almost shouting at him about these two things 1) [redacted] asked Munir why he 'made it sound' like I could use the machine,", and this is a quote, and 2) he asked him point blank why he didn't simply turn the water valve off. Had he done so we would not be in this situation. As regards the recommendation- He saw and I explained that I only have 110V for the washer dryer-The unit offered I believe does not work on that current. If I had called a plumber and he found that a leak, it would be normal I think that they shut off the water to prevent further damage. Since D & M advertised on Angies List one can assume that this is one way they drum up business. Their loss at this business model is much less than my ruined floor.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]Ok moving further back. I called your office and spoke to [redacted] saying that I had seen the ad on [redacted] I explained that I had an older model washing machine and dryer. I attempted to give her the brand and model numbers, but she said that was not necessary. I made appointment after appointment which Munir was unable to keep. Even [redacted] said that this was unacceptable. When Munir came the first time, he did a very superficial examination. When [redacted] came after the leak, and I asked why he said "That was because we don't like to work on old machines". ( and that's a quote). If neither [redacted] or Munir like to work on old machines, [redacted] should have said so, and Munir should have said so on the first visit. When I specifically asked if I could use the machine, which generally means it will work- he said YES. Then because I got the go ahead, I called another company in to clean out the dryer vent. I certainly would not have done that if I was told that I should not use the washing machine. Now for the recommendations:When Munir was here the first time, I said that I would want to replace the machines when I did a renovation. We discussed moving the location of the washer and dryer because when I was ready I would call on D & M to do the installation. I had assumed they did good work. When I used the washing machine and it leaked, Munir came back and then said that I shouldn't use it. He was going to give me an option to purchase in the meantime. I wanted a less expensive machine to tide me over until I was ready to renovate my kitchen and then get the  better machines. At that visit (and just to note the hoses didn't leak at all  until the machine was used) if Munir knew that the hoses were broken, and likely more, he should have turned the valve which provides water to the machine. I couldn't imagine that a 'professional' who deals with water  issues would be unaware that the water should be turned off. Had ne even mentioned that he didn't, I would have asked the handyman to turn it off. When [redacted] was here ( at which point he called Munir and had a heated discussion about his advice that I could use the machine, and about his error in not turning off the water) and insisted on turning the water back on, within minutes there was water in the machine again. I sent a photo but of course he said 'contact your building'.As regards payment, when I called [redacted] and said I had the old machines, and should I pay on [redacted] she said I could pay the technician when he gets there. I gave Munir a check, which had checks after it. D & M didn't cash the check. Now with this negligence the reason seems pretty obvious. Also, I didn't know until [redacted] explained when you pay thru Angies list the vendor receives only a small portion of the funds. He told me this in our exchanges about the situation. I am sorry that this has been out of pocket for them, but it does not excuse them for their very unsatisfactory initial examination, and their negligence in not turning off the water. The difficulty in matching my wood parquet and getting someone to fix it, plus the expensive nature of such a job far outweighs parking costs. the damage occurred as a direct result of their actions.
