D & M Construction, Design and Repair Reviews (2)

D&M construction Design and RepairOn March 2017, a complaint was filed against us ID ***.We were hired to frame a basement, add electrical, sheetrock, tape, mud and texture wallsInstall a vanity and toilet in the bathroom and put flooring in the bathroom and hallwayThe clients
responsibilities were to do all finish work, which is documented in the invoice, emailed to her on March 2017.We started the job on March 20thThe clients dad was there for the first few days to keep an eye on usHe would come down and check on us the whole time he was there, and the home owner was there the last days of the job. After the framing was done, a journeymen electrician was brought in to do the electricalWhile he was there, he fixed a couple of existing wiring issues, including spliced wiring that was not done correctly prior to us starting the jobHe talked with the home owner and advised her that she needs an additional plug installed, specifically for the old chest freezer in the garageShe said that would be greatly appreciatedHe explained everything he did to her step by step. Then the sheetrock, tape and mud was doneSanded mud and tape, walls were textured and sanded again. The wood lamament flooring was installed in the laundry room, bathroom and hallwayOnce completes, the vanity and toilet were installed. On that Friday, she had all new windows installed by another companyWhen that was complete, we sheetrocked all window ledges and casings, having to do additional buiaround those windows because they were much smaller than the original windows. During the process of the job, the neighbors came over to see the work, and she expressed how happy and excited she was about the work. She also expressed that she told her co-worker (who referred her to us), that things looked great. While we were cleaning up, she had a trailer out side with trash in itI asked if we could put all the debris in itShe texted her boyfriend, asking him if that would be okShe informed us that would be fine and her boyfriend would get rid of the trash/debris.In regards to the doors where the the water heater and the central air units areI did tell her and advised her that she needed vented doorsHer response was that she wanted all of her doors to matchThe water heater room has an 8" duct in the corner that goes up through the roof, providing ventilation. As for the heater ventsThey do fit and I told her if she wanted, I would go mount them after she paintedOutlet covers, some are a little to bigI did tell her about it and said they do have jumbo face plates that would cover, she said okThe "gaps" or rather spaces on the floor will be covered and not visible when baseboards are installed, part of the finish work that the homeowner agreed would be done on her partBeing that this is a floating floor, you allow room for the floor to move/expand and float, so you don't butt the planks directly against the wall Again, the spaces will not be visable once the home owner installs the baseboards. Before us leaving, the homeowner did a final walk throughShe had a level on the vanity and toiletI asked if they were level and her son, who was with her, said they were because he was the one with the level and said we did a great job.Caulking is her responsibilty because that is done after paint, as well as putting on all cover plates, again, part if the finish work. This remodel was agreed upon between the homeowner and myselfThe job and expectations of the job were made with her, not the her father, boyfriend, and/or sisterThe client did her final walk through, making the final payment when the walk through was completeThe client has made no contact with me at all, discussing her complaint or concernsI will not communicate with her boyfriend, father and/or sister regarding the job because they aren't the client

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The invoice attached to this response is the one I received at the time I hired him to do the workThe one attached to his response has been changed and was never emailed to meI am not disputing that I said I would put on baseboards, outlet covers and vent covers. I am disputing that my walls are paint ready which they are notThe seams can still be seen and the walls still need to be sanded and are not textured per the invoiceTo have a textured wall I have been told that there shouldn’t be any spots to where you can see the sheetrock or the wall is not textured and wouldn’t look the same throughout the roomHe never told me that the outlet holes were bigger than the face plate coversHe bought outlet covers for me to put on which are standard size, if he told me that they would be bigger then why didn't he buy the jumbo-sized face plates that are needed to cover the gapsThere is also a light switch that was not screwed in electrical box and was left hanging and my son was electrocuted. The heater vents are not flush with the sheetrock so I'm losing air in the ceilingThe hole for the dryer vent is square instead of round so that will need to be fixed as wellThere needs to be a drain cover installed in the flooring instead of the holes that was drilled in my new flooring. The doors for the water heater and furnace he did advise me that I needed vented doors which I agreed to however when he asked me what kind of doors I wanted I said " something to match what I have" however I expected vented doors since that is what he stated I needed to be up to codeThe electrician did talk to me about the extra outlet for the deep freezer after they already had the hole cutwhat was I supposed to say no I don't want it after the hole was made and I even told them that the freezer wasn’t staying where it is at this moment and all he said is you can run a cord. The neighbors that came over are friends of his and I stated that I was excited to finally get my basement finished I never commented on how the job looked same with my co-workerHe states that I have never tried to contact him which is not true we called him on 3/25/which he agreed to come to the house and look what needs to be done and never showed up, texted him on 3/26/with no response, again on 4/2/which he responded to and I replied on 4/4/and have not heard back from himSo, I went to Facebook and tagged him in the photos that needed to be fixed and no response from him so I went to his company Facebook page to address my issues and had my comments deleted and blocked from his page so he has been ignoring my issuesHe states that caulking was my responsibility which was never told me and he could have caulked the bottom of the toilet and didn't and the gap is way big to caulk due to the shims he put under the toiletI did also tell him that the vanity is leaking waterMy boyfriend lives with me and has as much right as I do when it comes to my home if something isn't right then he can say something. To me it did look ok until I had my father and my boyfriend and other contractors tell me the things that needed to be fixed. I found out from the Revdex.com that he isn't licensed to do what he did and he shouldn't have takin the job if it was more than what his license is for, he does not have a contractor’s licenseI found out we should have gotten a building permit and didn't and now I have to get one to finish the job and all the sheetrock will need to be removed so everything can be inspected like it should have been doneI have gotten a bid to fix what needs to be fixed and it will cost $plus the building permitI asked him before he started if I needed a permit and he had stated "no"I just want my basement done and my home back togetherI will agree to arbitration to get a this resolved I will only ask for $in a refund or I will take legal action and take him to small claimesSincerely,*** ***
Sincerely,
