I took my computer in for a simple memory card addition. The computer was working perfectly prior to giving it to them to add the memory card. They called saying the computer had major problems and a blue screen and the hard drive had several problems. In talking to an IT professional, he explained that they had inserted the wrong memory card and that was the only way the blue screen would have come up as well as mess up the hard drive. He also explained to me that if they insert the old memory card it would reactivate the computer and my old files would come up. The company called and wanted to know what files I had on the computer so they could see if they would save them. I explained that I had a lot of files on the computer and could not remember all as I was devastated that they lost everything. They then explained that they could sell me a refurbished computer that would be faster and have more memory if they could not save it. After several days, they called and said the computer was ready for pick up. Realizing that to add a memory card the fee should only have been $20-$40 they wanted to charge me over $200 to get my computer back. Even though I had paid a $50 advance payment, this was not recognized at all until I told them and had to show my receipt. Once I got the computer home, I turned it on, saw my icons and once I hit one I got the blue screen, and before I knew it, over 60+ files were "dumped" and the screen went blank and would do nothing else. I ended up having to go to Best Buy and purchase a new one since I had deadlines that I had to meet using the computer.
