I signed a proposal and made a downpayment in excess of 70% of the bid amount on 3/19/2012. The owner, [redacted], and a crew started work on building a garage. They cleared the area by removing concrete and a clothesline. On 3/20/2012, I asked to see his building permit and he left to obtain one. On 3/20/2012, they dug up the yard and dug a hole and filled, spread and packed with gravel. It appears he rented a Bobcat from A-1 Rentals. [redacted] and [redacted] delivered rebar on 3/26/2012. I never saw or heard from Mr. [redacted] or [redacted] again. On 4/4/2012, we received a letter from the City Planning Board. I tried to call Mr. [redacted] and didn't get an answer. It states that a permit can not be issued until additional plans and drawings are provided. On 4/26/2012, I called him at ###-###-####. My call went to his voice mail. I left a specific message that I thought it was time for him to give me my money back. On 4/27/2012, Mr. [redacted] called and said he would be here next week due to rainy weather. I made additional calls requesting my money back. I made my initial contact for building the garage from an ad on TV by Service Magic. On 5/16/2012, my attorney wrote a letter to Mr. [redacted]. As far as I know Mr. [redacted] did not respond to the letter. The letter required a response from Mr. [redacted] on or before 6/1/2012. To date, no response was received. I have had no additional contact with Mr. [redacted]. On 7/20/2012, the reader board sign at A-1 Rentals reads: [redacted], D-N-S Roofing, Bad Check. A report has been filed with the City of Billings Police Department.
