D & R Heating & Air Reviews (6)

We at D&R Heating & Air have talked to and visited with Mr [redacted] and resolved the issues with him directly In response to his complaints yes the technicians did spill oil on the drive way as a piece of equipment fell out of the van when the door was opened and they were asked if they had any kitty litter as there is none on our trucks and the guys wanted to get is soaked up as soon as possible instead of running off to the store and allowing it to soak into the concrete even more Our employees have been instructed that there is to be NO music played on job sites and we are sorry that this was not followed and have put disciplinary actions into place after this complaint The technicians were NOT taking selfies with the equipment but taking pictures of the equipment to show management and possibly be upload to our web site at a later time The outdoor equipment was cleaned and serviced at the additional charge and yes he left some screws out, when asked to put all screws back in he didThe tape on the furnace is tape used for this purpose and once we herd it was not sticking we went back and fixed it The furnace and AC at this customer house is working and has passed city inspection Customer again is happy and we have taken care of all problems

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
The General Manager promptly responded to my concerns and was very helpful in successfully resolving this situation. He came out personally to discuss the matter with me, and that was much appreciated
** I would prefer that my name be removed from being posted as part of the public response from this business, as per Revdex.com guidelines
** I would also ask that any photos taken on or of my property NOT be posted on their website, or elsewhere

The [redacted]'s were in the market for a new heating and cooling system. We discussed several options for their home, the old system was located under the house, but it had been ripped out, along with all the duct work, and electrical to accommodate a marijuana grow and drying area. We gave her...

options of a fully ducted HVAC system for around $12K , and the option of a Daikin Mini-Split for around $8k. They thought about it for a few days and said they wanted to go ahead with the Daikin Heat-pump System (not an electric unit). A heat pump is a device that transfers heat energy from a source of heat to a destination called a "heat sink". Heat pumps are designed to move thermal energy in the opposite direction of spontaneous heat transfer by absorbing heat from a cold space and releasing it to a warmer one. A heat pump uses a small amount of external power to accomplish the work of transferring energy from the heat source to the heat sink. Heat pumps are more efficient than traditional HVAC systems, they require far less energy consumption, and the customer also saves on the cost of Natural gas.  The husband told us that his wife does not understand the system. We are more than willing to credit the customer the $8k and sell them a fully ducted system, if they are willing to pay the difference for us to do the work. [redacted] came into our office on 10/4/2016 & 10/19/2016 to make 2 credit card payments.  We were scheduling a service call to see if the system was not working properly or if it is consumer not understanding the system. We strive to make each and every customer happy. D&R Heating & Air

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this because: I feel I was manipulated and taken advantage 6. I told the tech from the get go that I wanted a gas unit, here I have an electric unit that doesn't meet my standards not is it close to what I asked for. As a Customer I believe that if I ask for a gas unit I should get gas not electric. Not only do I have a unit I didn't ask for I have damages that the tech did, when crawling in the attic he cracked the sheet rock in 4 different places. Not only do I disagree with D and R's service I will write a review on my horrible experience with them.  I
Sincerely,

asked if they had any kitty litter as there is none on our trucks and the guys wanted to get is soaked up as soon as possible instead of running off to the store and allowing it to soak into the concrete even more.  Our employees have been instructed that there is to be NO music played on job sites and we are sorry that this was not followed and have put disciplinary actions into place after this complaint.  The technicians were NOT taking selfies with the equipment but taking pictures of the equipment to show management and possibly be upload to our web site at a later time.  The outdoor equipment was cleaned and serviced at the additional charge and yes he left some screws out, when asked to put all screws back in he did. The tape on the furnace is tape used for this purpose and once we herd it was not sticking we went back and fixed it.  The furnace and AC at this customer house is working and has passed city inspection.  Customer again is happy and we have taken care of all problems.

I believe the installation of a new gas furnace at [redacted], Portland, OR was defective in materials and workmanship. I believe that the employee performing the installation did not perform the proper calculations in designing air control parts (such as air intake) and that subsequent adjustments performed by company personnel were insufficient to correct underlying poor design. The furnace has failed to work properly and damage has resulted to other parts of the unit. There was also leaking of combustion gases from the unit, which required services of an outside company to correct. This should have been inspected by the installation technician. The furnace has short cycled since its installation and resulted in a damaged igniter.

The installation of this furnace should have been completed under the installation agreement as to provide satisfactory service and function, without needing additional follow up service at added expense. All charges were promptly paid to the company following City of Portland inspection sign off. The technician appeared to have less than ten hours on the project

Problems noted:
1. Leaking of combustion gases from the unit
2. Air filter probably too small, with gaps around it, not properly secured.
3. Furnace frequently turning off and on ( short cycling)
4. Improper sizing of return air ductwork plenum
5. The existing furnace could have probably been repaired for significantly less cost than the replacement which was done.

I believe this company normally does reputable business, but in this case the technician performing the installation probably was not adequately supervised to do the installation correctly. I have had to quite a lot of research in a field in which I do not have specialized knowledge to ascertain what the underlying causes of the improperly functioning (i.e short cycling) furnace are. My main concern is that this furnace work efficiently and properly without breakdown due to inadequate installation methods.
