I am complaining about the carelessness and negligence of Mid Cal Moving & Storage in moving my household furnishings from Modesto to Walnut Creek on Aug. 15, 2012. The day of the move one of the moving men brought me a large picture that had the glass broken and said it had happened in the move. They had not even wrapped it in paper. The driver was there, recorded it, and told me to notify the office and it would be replaced. In addition, the movers left an oriental vase holder outside broken. They didn't even bother to bring it in the house or tell me about it. The movers also did not attach a headboard to the bed, and they ripped a bedruffle in the move because they did not bother to take it off the mattress.

I notified the company of this and they offered me $33.00. Just the glass alone cost $73 to replace. An offer of $33 is ridiculous for all 4 damages. The company said I had turned down their extra insurance, which is true. However these damages were not normal damages from a move. They were directly related to the movers' negligence and carelessness.

The moving company said they would have someone come and attach the headboard to the bed the next time they had a representative in the area. That is ridiculous also. I need to hire someone to do it now.
