DT McCalls sold us two HVAC units for our new home costing approximately $10,000 that are defective and refused to honor any warranties.
We had built a new home in 2008, 2oo9. We moved in Feb. 2009. By June 2009 our downstairs HVAC unit quit cooling the house after only two weeks of use. I called DT McCalls who came out to look at it and said that our unit was defective and we would be receiving a new one in two weeks, which we did get. Three years later our downstairs unit quit working again, which soon followed our upstairs unit. In the meantime I called DT McCalls to let them know of the problem. After talking to Mark [redacted] and telling him the problem, he called our contractor, [redacted], whos daughter is married into the [redacted] family, and strongly suggested we buy through the [redacted] family to get a better price and better service, and that was the only way she would warranty the units even though their quote was higher and also never being asked by anyone about a labor warranty decided he would not take any of my calls. One of [redacted] employees did call me back and apologized for the way we were treated and did agree to come out and look at it but we had to use DT McCalls because they were the ones that had the warranties on them. I did call another independent HVAC service and he did verify that he couldn't work on them because of the warranties were under DT McCALLS. I had the man come out to look at the unit and it was the evaporator coil that he said was defective and we paid for it to be fixed. In the meanwhile the upstairs unit went out. We called the same man out to come look at it on his vacation on his own time and paid to have freon put into it until we could afford to have it fixed or we could get the matter settled with DT McCALLS and they would honor the warranty and fix it. I am writing to you now because summer is coming and we need for the units to be running. We were charged approximately $10,000 for the units and was never offered a labor warranty. We have paid in full for one to be repaired and the other units evaporator coil is still not working. We expect for both units to be replaced with non defective units of the same or greater quality and all the money we paid amounting to almost $1000 to have them repaired, adding freon to the defective ones while parts came in etc. to get through the summer, to be paid in full. I will not take anything less than this settlement. The model #s are M [redacted] and S B5DXXXXXXXXX both with the [redacted] name. We can get cancelled checks from the bank proving the payments that were made to DT [redacted] and his employee that helped us on his own time since Mr [redacted] would not do so.
