D & W Diesel Inc Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
The company has said nothing new from the first day that I called them and told them that the turbo was badI purchased the turbo with the understanding that it had a one year warranty but this company has made excuses and pushed the blame off from themselves When I first ordered the turbo from them they did not have all the parts in stock to rebuild the turbo, so they had to put a rush on the parts ordered and the assembly of the turboWho is to say that the contamination did not get in at that point? Regardless of when the contamination occurred it appears that this company does not have the INTEGRITY to stand by their word (a one year warranty) and replace or in this case since I had to purchase another turbo refund the cost of the turbo that I purchased from themI have had factory trained technicians from other companies examine the turbo and have then read the companies response and they have stated that there is still no way to determine exactly when the contamination occurred it very could have been during the assembly process or even after the nut started to back off from not being properly torqued, due to the rush that was one the turbo, causing it to be off balance and the contamination occurred after the nut entered the compressor housing causing small pieces of the nut, compressor, and the turbo housing to enter into the turbo which then drew the entire oil pan capacity through the turbo This company lacks the Integrity to stand by their word and my complaint will not be resolved until they have refunded my money

Dear [redacted]We are in receipt of your correspondence of 9/3/2015.  D&W Diesel expressed warranty is twelve months from the date of installation against defects in material or workmanship.  D&W is an authorized factory master distributor for [redacted] and other...

turbo manufactures.  We have invested heavily in technician training and in the equipment to properly build and test all types and sizes of turbochargers.  Our team has analysed hundreds of turbos over the years and the symptoms discovered in [redacted]'s turbocharger are not uncommon.  Turbochargers are very simple, yet delicate part.  Turbocharges can spin up to 150,000 RPM's.  The tolerances between the bearings and shaft are very small, and the shaft actually rides on a film of oil between the shaft and the journal  bearing.  We do not dispute that [redacted] changed his oil on a regular basis, however, the indications are that his truck did have some kind of contaminate in his oil.  If other parts of the engine are beginning to degrade, the debris first shows up in the turbocharger bearings.  I have attached our findings and photos of the failed turbo.  If you take a look at the second row, middle photo, you will notice a large groove cut into the turbocharger shaft, with a corresponding groove cut into the journal bearings.  This is a classic case of a fine debris that has passed through the oil to make that cut.  Once that begins, the balance of the turbocharger is in question.  This will allow the impellers to hit the housings and loosen the nut, catastrophic failure is not far behind.  This unit had been in service for approximately 12 months. We empathize with [redacted], concerning his turbo.  In this instance we can detect no defect in material or workmanship.  Without disassemble, [redacted] would have no way of knowing about the scored shaft or damage to the journal bearings.  It would appear that the nut had simply come off, this is actually not the case.  Upon full disassemble it becomes clear that the unit was damaged from the inside out.If you would like to discuss this further, please contact:Jeff H[redacted]Branch Manager - Albany51 Sicker RoadLatham, NY 12110###-###-####
