Company's response below:
Date: Thu, May 5, 2016 at 1:53 AMSubject: Response to letter - ID# [redacted])Hello Ms. [redacted] or whomever this may concern, My name is [redacted]. and I'm the [redacted] of DA Roofing Company Inc. My [redacted]...

started this business 30 plus years ago and I took over in 2007 after he passed. I've currently been working with this company for right at 20 years. I've lived in [redacted] my entire life and actually live in the same house that I was brought to from [redacted]. I know everyone in this town and this company is my life! We have the best reputation in this town as well, which is why we stay busy year round and have hundreds of references! Before I get into the main situation, I must say that I was beyond shocked when receiving this letter and feel that the statements that were presented were fairly close to the truth, but also way off at the same time! The roof that we installed in late November/December of 2012, went perfectly and looked awesome! Mrs. [redacted] was more than pleased with the job and there were no issues. On the proposal that I had given Ms. [redacted], I have a two year warranty which I have on all of my contracts. Over 3 years later, I receive a call from a gentleman [redacted], not Ms. [redacted], stating that he believed there might be a leak in a closet. I never once spoke with Ms. [redacted], just this gentleman who was very rude and was demanding I fix everything right away! He's actually the one that wrote the statement to y'all, not Ms. [redacted]. I told him that I have a two year warranty with all of my jobs (which this job was over three years ago), but I would be glad to take a look at it and see if I could fix it. I went over to the house a couple different times and made attempts to seal everything up against this particular wall. After making several different attempts, I told him that the shingles were fine and that it was actually the siding that was the issue. The siding was cut too high and hard blowing rain was able to get above the flashing, which caused the leak. He stated in his letter that the other roofer said "it was holes in the flashing from our shovels." We use flat bars on all walls when removing the shingles not shovels, so this in no way shape or form could have been the reasoning. This is a gentleman that I know personally who, to put in a nice way, does not stay very busy and does not have the greatest reputation. I've got over a thousand people here in this small town of [redacted] who could vouch for myself and my company! Back to the issues at hand, after trying to repair the wall a couple times, it obviously continued to be an issue. He then called back again, still being very rude, stating that there was still an issue. I told him I would get a carpenter over there to handle everything and he said "no thank you, I'll handle it" and hung the phone up on me. At this point, I'm saying to myself "the heck with this guy"!! Over a month later he sends me an email stating that he had the repairs taken care of and that the cost was over $2,000.00. That is absolutely absurd and Mr. [redacted], (Ms. [redacted]) definitely got ripped off! He said he wanted me to pay for everything and I told him that #1. My two year warranty on paper is over a year past that warranty date, so your case is invalid anyway! #2. I tried to have everything taken care of and he completed declined in anger! #3. He was ripped off and only received one quote. He was in such a rush to have everything done because they were trying to sell the home, that he took the first quote and got slammed by someone telling him something that was definitely false! Ms. [redacted]'s [redacted] is a very respected [redacted] here in [redacted] and he's the one that actually got me that job, amongst dozens of others that I do for him and other agents with his company. I've tried to be more than civil and not be rude or bad mouth, but this indeed was not a wrong doing on my/DA Roofing's behalf and I'll back that up 100%! The bottom line is that there is a two year warranty on paper and this complaint was over three years later! I still went over and made several attempts to fix the issue, at no charge! I even tried to offer to have a carpenter go over and fix things and Mr. [redacted] completely denied and said he would handle it. I never once spoke with Ms. [redacted]! I truly appreciate your time and I hope I made myself clear. I also hope that I did not come off mean or rude, but most importantly gave you the truth of this whole situation and I hope to never have to deal with something like this again! I definitely respect your business and what y'all do, and should've never had my company DA Roofing, be a part of an unhappy situation through y'all! Please feel free to email me anytime or you can reach me at my office at [redacted]. Thanks again for your time and have a blessed week![redacted].DA Roofing Company, Inc.
