DAB Builders and Renovation

Review: My husband and I hired DAB BUILDERS the week of AUG 5th to complete a kitchen remodel within a 6 week time frame. The work was to be completed by MID SEPTEMBER. We had a contract that he emailed but he said "Don't worry about signing it." I gave a 5000 deposit, and subsequent payments totaling 13,500. He was not coming to do the work for weeks at a time. He was not calling me / communicating and I was blocked from leaving voice mails on his phone.He emailed me the week of November 15th and said that I needed to pay more money to finish the work. He was also trying to add additional charges for things that were included in the original contract. He asked us to pay for the floor installation even though it was on the contract. He originally had said he was paying for the hinges and then told us to buy them. He said he subcontracted the rest of the cabinet work and could not pay for it. He said our work would not be done again until four more weeks and that was only if I gave him more money or paid the subcontractor. He claimed that the subcontractor was almost done with our work. I call the subcontractor only to find out that this person never started our work because DAB Builders owes him money from previous jobs. He said the contractor's measurements have been incorrect in the past and told me he did not want to do any more work for this contractor because he was owed money. DAB builders was also not coming to the house to finish other work we had discussed. So now we had to hire another contractor to make door and drawer fronts.The vent hood was not installed properly. It was hanging with one screw. We asked him to fix this and he did not. A measurement was incorrect and we have two cabinets that are half the size they should be. Drawers were installed not flush. One cabinet is coming apart. The end pieces are not installed. The trash can drawer was never built.The new cabinets installed hang one inch lower than our other cabinets. The island was not securedDesired Settlement: We would like to resolve this with Revdex.com before hiring a lawyer. We do not feel that we had 13,500 dollars worth of work completed and would like to seek compensation for the work not being done on time or at all. We are seeking half of what was paid which would be * 6,750. This is for 1. The contract not being finished within the 6 week time frame.2. Work not completed as stated in the contract.3. Work not installed / made correctly.4. quality of craftsmenship
