Complaint[redacted] of Dacota did not disclose he was NOT a licensed plumber and did work for a new shower that never came to fruition as pipes he put in burst![redacted] was contracted to install a new shower. Gave him $500 deposit. The pipes,he installed burst during the night and flooded our home and crawl space. Thousands of dollars in damage. New ceramic tile ruined, subfloors water damaged, air ducts were overflowing with water, burnt out our water heater, carpet in master bedroom destroyed, flooring in dining room destroyed due to,his negligence. Adjuster was here and settlement will take four weeks. His plumbing was so,shoddy that he actually used all wrong fittings and pipes and switched the hot and cold water. He has liability coverage only.!! Put in new toilet which also started to leak as he installed that wrong also. Now I'm worried,about the wall repair,he did in my kitchen.! NOT a licensed plumber and did not disclose that nor did he get a permit that was required in our town which I asked him to do.Desired SettlementAny expenses over and above what his,insurance won't pay for. As of this point I know it will be for the plumbing fixtures and parts and water heater so far. Have gotten four plumbing estimated and two water heater estimates to date.Business Response The damage in question was due to a plumbing connector which failed 3 days after installation. The [redacted]'s requested that the insurance company take over the water cleanup and repair.Consumer Response The insurance company will only cover liability, that is damage done by the water that was created because of a incompetent contractor who was not licensed as a plumber. Therefore, parts such as replacing all plumbing parts will not be covered by his insurance as told to us by his adjuster. That is for sure. We gave a $500 deposit for a shower installation and ceramic tile installation which the contractor did not complete or perform properly. Also when hooking up the water back he switched the hot and cold and that was why we don't have hot water.We will be requesting $500 deposit and after insurance anything they won't cover due to his negligence. Right at this moment we are well within our rights to request that deposit back as he did not fulfill his contract obligations. [redacted] and [redacted]
