Re: ID #[redacted]                                                                                ...

August 25, 2016We are very sorry for the trouble that Mr. [redacted] is having with the sod we installed in May of 2016. At the time we installed the sod it was good, healthy sod. From the beginning Mr. [redacted] was advised on how to care for his lawn. Once we install the sod it is up to the owner to make certain they take care of it. DDLC cannot be held liable for things beyond our control once the installation has occurred to include lack of care, pet soiling issues, over or under watering, over or under fertilizing, natural causes, and the like. At that same time we installed Mr. [redacted]’s sod we installed 2 other lawns, using the sod from the same lot, including a sod install for Mr. [redacted]’s mother. The protocol with which Mr. [redacted]’s sod was installed was the same as the others and we have had no other complaints of unhealthy sod. During the install we spoke with Mr. [redacted] about a troubled spot under a tree that has limbs protruding out; bring a high volume of shade. We suggested trimming the limbs in order to provide the sunlight the sod needed. Mr. [redacted] did not want us to do that. When Mr. [redacted] called in July (almost 2 months after the install) to say his sod was not growing in that area, without going to take a look at it, we suggested in order to fix it we could try laying a new piece of sod when we did another sod job that was coming up. (We were going to do this at our expense because he was such a good customer and we were sorry he was disappointed.) However, once we actually went to his home and reviewed the troubled spot we realized a new piece of sod would have the same result. So we determined a better fix was to reseed with a shade mix grass seed  and apply peat-moss. We provided that application at no charge. Mr. [redacted] contacted us again and said it was still not growing, so we went to his home and re-applied the reseed solution, again at no charge. At that time we once again stated this was a trouble spot due to the tree shade and it may not work.Regarding the dead spots on his lawn in the front and back: These could be from any number of issues, not watering or over watering in those spots, over or under fertilizing, pet  urine or other animal defecating, bug infestation, etc. It is obvious that the sod was healthy at the time of the install because the other customer’s lawns are doing fine. It is also curious that the lawn is dying only in spots. If the sod was bad, entire strips would be dead. We continue to work with Mr. [redacted] on this issue and were at his home once again on 8/22 discussing options, which we will try again after the summer heat is past. When we install greenery we guarantee the install will be done to the customer’s request to the best of our ability with healthy product, however our disclaimer states: “When planting greenery or foliage, DDLC makes every effort to insure all plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, grasses and sod are settled and stabilized at the time of planting. However, DDLC cannot be held liable for plants, trees, flowers, shrubs, grasses or sod that die or become stunted due to circumstances beyond our control to include lack of care, pet soiling issues, over or under watering, over or under fertilizing, natural causes, and the like.  DDLC does not in any way guarantee the product or installation to such extent as anything beyond our control and/or past the initial installation. Should greenery or foliage require additional care or maintenance after installation, all regular costs to include time, materials, and applicable sales tax will be charged accordingly.”There is only so much we can do to help Mr. [redacted], and at some point need to charge him for these “fixes”, due to things out of our control. We have assisted with his lawn problems because he truly was a very nice man, giving us a great tip, because he so liked our work. Our service guarantee states: “We provide exceptional landscaping maintenance services. Our customers are well valued and very much appreciated. If you are not completely satisfied with the service you have received please contact us. We will focus our prompt attention and discuss options for resolving the issue with a deliberate strategy to meet your satisfaction.” That being said we responded promptly, providing a solution/s to try and meet his satisfaction. We are doing all we can to make Mr. [redacted]s’ experience with Daddogg Lawn Care a positive one, however we believe circumstance beyond our control are at work in this transaction. We sincerely empathize with Mr. [redacted]’s disappoint and trust there will be a resolution that is amicable for both. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.Sincerely, Ted and Janie B[redacted], (owners,) and the Daddogg Lawn Care Crew
