A-US Air was dispatched by American Home Shield (AHS) to troubleshoot and repair my AC with a seized compressorThe technicians were knowledgeable and quickly confirmed the problem My issue with the company is their predatory billing practicesThey gave me an invoice up-front for the services and supplies that would not be covered by the AHS warrantyOne of these items was for Tamper Proof/Locking Servicing Caps for the refrigerantThey wanted to charge me $for these caps because the ones I had were "out of code." A quick search on the internet and I was able to find them from many vendors for $In bulk, they were even cheaperA-US Air marked the caps up 480% from retailI told the techs I would buy my own caps and they were nice enough to not argue with me Their second predatory billing practice is how much they charge per pound of RrefrigerantI understand Ris getting phased out, the supply/demand involved with pricing and the price will only continue to go upHowever, I was able to price Rfrom several vendors online in the $18-per pound price rangeA-US Air charges $per pound...a XXX-XXX% markup from retailAHS covers the first $per pound of refrigerant, and I'm ok with thatHowever, the extra $per pound comes out of my pocket, which added up to $since my unit uses pounds of R Once the parts issued, the technicians replaced the compressor and got everything working just fineThey even came back out to replace a faulty servicing port that would not close properly during the first service callI can't fault the work the company didI just can't recommend them because they try and cram in "extras" on the billing

I have now been without AC for 9 days with 3 different service techs. First [redacted] came out at our request because the AC took a very long time to get cold. He came out took 5 hours and left us without our air conditioning on a Wednesday and said he would be back. He came back the next day took another 4-5 hours and couldn't fix it. He says he will bring a tech lead name Damian. The next day he comes back without Damian and took another 3-4 hours and said he will call the lead tech and gave up. [redacted] was nice but ruined our air conditioner. Then Jose shows up on a Saturday and spends about 3 hours diagnosing. He finds out that Johnny over pressurized the system to 279 pounds and that Johnny out heating thermostat on my system and not a air conditioning thermostat. He claims that what he did will resolve the issue and just give the AC 4-6 hours to recharge by leaving it running. I waited and cold air never came. Then they send out [redacted] that didn't show up to our house on Monday until 8:00pm. He diagnosed everything and said the problem was our expansion valve. He was able to get the air running cold for about 6 hours so yet again were were without AC for a total of 5-6 days. Also my AC is in pieces and not put back together properly. He said he needs to order the part and would come back out in the next day or so. He called me back and said he won't be out because the part doesn't come in until Wednesday. He calls me Wednesday morning says he will be there after 3:00pm and nobody shows up nobody calls. I call the next morning and he says he had a flat that night and that he would be there between 12-1:00. Again nobody shows up and nobody calls. I have left 3-4 voicemails with there company and nobody returned the phone call. My family has now been without AC in Texas heat when for 9 days and going to have to get a hotel tonight. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Our system worked from the get go and probably just needed a slight maintenance on the expansion valve.

Terrible service: A us air told us a tech would call us to minutes before arrivalSaturday morning at 8:a.m it is now 9:P.Mwe are still without heat and no one has called of shown up and all the after hours lady tells us is she relays the message and someone will get back to us but she's not sureThey have emergency service also that no pone answers either???????? Hopefully AHC and any other warranty companies take them off their listsJust look at all the other reviews for them

If I could rate this place stars I would
We had a "repair" done by a Rene *** (**confirmed on his lovely **)Our AC had stopped working and we contacting our home insurance companyThey sent this scheming place for the repair and Rene looked at it minutes and said it needed FreonEven with the home insurance it only covered bucks a gallonSo there was the $fee and $for the freon and he was outSupposedly he replaced something that had a leakQuickest repair I've ever seen in my lifeSo here we are a little over two months later and the AC is down againIt was running without stopping, even though it was set on Auto and then just stopped workingSo we called them backAfter checking around the AC unit outside ourselves, it felt like the wall was cold outsideSo whatever we saved that info for when the technician got hereHe got here, seemed to not be in the best mood, and went straight to messing with the unit inside the houseAfter doing whatever he was doing, there was LOUD spark sound and then it smelled like burnt rubberHe said something was burned and it'd need to be repaired or we would need a new somethingI cannot remember specifically, if I knew about AC's we wouldn't have called this place for HELPSo he finally proceeds outside and discovers a "leak" outside that he somehow didnt discover the last time he was here for that lengthy minute visitThe leak was located in the connection that unfortunately runs behind the wallHe said the wall would need to be opened up there before he could repair it, they weren't allowed to do thatSo he leavesWe get the wall open and set up an appointment ONLINE since NOBODY would answer their phone nor extensions they SPECIFICALLY gave usMind you, I am not the home owner, my mother isSo we wait for our appointmentRolls around and they never come and we are calling and callingNever answerFinally, the second home owner contacts the home insurance company insteadHow the home insurance got in contact with A-US when we couldn't I'll never knowBut apparently, this guy wrote down on his little clipboard that we used a third party to try and fix something in the inside unit and fried the part *** FRIED RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYESI was sitting at my table watching him when it happened and saw, heard, and smelled the entire thingHe even got a bit un-easy after and said he was going to try to "rig" it afterwards so it would at least run temporarily because he didnt want to "leave us in the heat." What a liar, a bad one at thatHe knew he messed up the part and tried to cover his ***The part was NOT fried when he got here, he fried it and now they WILL NOT finish the repair and we have a gaping hole in the wall of our house behind our AC FOR NOTHINGAnd my mother missed out on work and the money she could've made today waiting for the "technician"! THANKS A BUNCHThis company is *** and their standards for technicians are too
