Dahill Moving and Storage

Review: I hired Dahill moving & storage in Sept 2012 to take furniture from my parents estate in Staten Island to their Bayonne storage, with the understanding that I have my furniture moved to my new home within a year, & some would be sent to my brother in Florida & we paid a fee for the storage. In July * made arrangements for some of the furniture to go to Orlando Florida to my brother, I also told them that @ the end

of August I was going to send the rest to my new home. Before my furniture could be sent to me I received a notice that they had "lost their lease in Bayonne" & would made arrangements with a new company

for my furniture to go there for storage & the fee would remain the same. I agreed to have my furniture sent there, & paid my last invoice to Dahill in August. When I called [redacted] they said my furniture was

still @ Dahill locked up by the landlord because dahill hadn't paid their rent. When I tried to call Dahill I get no answer, & their emails bounce. I tried calling their parent company Mayflower & have gotten no

response, I only want my furniture back , as it belong to my parents & it has special meaning to me.Desired Settlement: Please have them contact me so I can arrange having my furniture sent to my new home.

Review: Last summer, I moved from New York to San Diego with this company, and it was by far the worst moving experience of my life. A few weeks before the actual move, I had called to see if I could add a small desk to my order, which they said that I could do. A few DAYS before my (cross-country, very stressful) move, they called back to inform me that it wasn't part of my contract, and gave me enormous troubles before I could finally add it, blatantly doing everything in their power to avoid adding one item to an order, refusing to let me talk to supervisors, and at one point calling me a CRYBABY on the phone because I was frustrated. (The weekend before a cross-country move!) Then, I was informed three weeks after they had picked everything up (three weeks was supposed to be the absolute latest length of time that it would take me to receive my things) that their truck had broken down, and that it would take me an additional five days to receive my things. The most egregious issue with this company, however, took place after I had received my things. I had intended to pay with credit card, and was ready to pay with it when the movers were at my apartment and finished with the move. They told me that the credit card should already be on file, and they left. Fine. Turns out, someone in the company had forgotten to get my credit card on file, and so they called me while I was at work in order to get my information, which I was more than happy to oblige. However, since I was at work, I wasn't able to listen to the voicemail and respond, so imagine my surprise when I got a second voicemail from the mover myself - who knew EXACTLY where I lived, and that I was a single woman living alone - THREATENING to wait outside my apartment until I paid - which I only didn't do because various people in the company dropped the ball! I was absolutely terrified to be in a new place, not knowing anyone, and having a man threaten to essentially stalk me.Desired Settlement: At the very least, I deserve an apology from this company for what I had to go through, and I need to let the general populace know, through this website and others, the extreme difficulty I had in using these movers. I also feel that some form of partial refund is appropriate due to the fact that I was harassed and threatened by one of their employees.
