Case #*** ? Responded to on June 14, ? Business info: Dahl Automotive La Crosse, Inc *** *** ** *

*** **? ***
*** ? Business Response: This guest did
come into the dealership and discuss purchasing a vehicle from us.? They requested a trade evaluation so our salesman did take the car over to the used car department where our appraiser works.? When our salesman scanned their vehicle into the system it automatically pulled their information from November of the previous year when the guest had it reviewed at a sister location.? Our *** *** *** saw that there was a value on the trade and used the old equity review to present a worksheet to the guest.? When the *** *** *** completed the current equity review he called the *** *** *** and went over the values with him.? This is the point where the *** *** *** went out and explained to the guest that the value on the worksheet was incorrect.? We explained that the additional 10,miles on their vehicle and the present condition of the car was different than when the car was evaluated in November and why the values were $different.? At this point the guest did threaten to use social sites to harm us and our reputation if we did not honor the incorrect value.? ? I also want to be clear that what the guest has that is signed is nothing more than a piece of paper used to show prices, estimated taxes and fees, and average payment options.? No legal documents were signed, no money changed hands, and no credit was pulled or financing applied for.? ? We take pride in trying to exceed our customers’ expectations, unfortunately we were not able to accomplish that on this occasion.? We will make adjustments to our process to help us succeed in the future.?

I have a classic VW Beetle and reached a point where getting it running was a bit outside of my skills. I took it to Dahl since they were the only ones within 100 miles who had any experience with classic VW's. I agreed to go as high as $300 but they call me for anything more. They tinkered for about an hour and changed some fuses - runs great.
Charged me $420.
Robbery, pure and simple. Terrible practice. I will tell all my friends. Horrible.

Review: I took my vehicle to be repaired in March (2nd or 3rd ) week. I spoke with [redacted]. He advised me that I was having problems with the compressor. I paid over $1000 and thought it was fixed until in May of 2014, two months later I experienced the exact same issues. I took it back, this time they claimed it was something else with the compressor. We call them many times and since [redacted] is NEVER available I asked to speak with a manager. Someone named Bob got on the phone and still couldn't answer my questions and said he would leave a message for [redacted] to call me, I left my number but he never called which I expected. I feel that I'm definitely getting double charged and I also believe that my car is not a priority to them since they service mostly upper class customers. I haven't had my vehicle for 3 months. It's a Mercedes Benz R 350 and the car was perfect until [redacted] started on it. I would like to resolve this so I can get my only vehicle back. I also think a second opinion is warranted in this matter. I look forward to resolving this issue as soon as possible and in a professional matter.Desired Settlement: I would like my vehicle to be repaired in a honest, timely order. I ask that the charges be adjusted due to the repair prior to this incident I ask for communication from Dahl and I ask that someone other than [redacted] is assigned to my car due to several dishonest or miscommunication issues that we've dealt with the last 3 months while our vehicle has just sat in there parking lot and We were told it would be getting in to the service dept for repair. I also ask for fair competitive price left. Which shouldn't be very much at all considering I have a warranty from the service I received from them just a month prior for work done on the compressor. I would like for them to put there customers first but I can't even speak to anyone that has questions about my vehicle. Unfortunately that is my only vehicle so I can't drive down there to see what's going on. This has been the worst experience I've had with repair service and I hope to resolve this asap. Thank You!

Response:

On Monday, August 18th, [redacted] and [redacted] met with the service manager, [redacted], and the General Manager, [redacted], to discuss the issues that were brought up in the complaint. We were able to clarify the needed repairs to the vehicle and also the lack of communication regarding these repairs on the part of Dahl. We have agreed to bring the charges for the repairs to a level that is agreeable to both parties and concluded that the repairs will be completed by Friday August 22nd. The relationship between Dahl Automotive and the [redacted] family has been mended and we look forward to working together in the future.

Review: I test drove a 2014 subaru forester 2.5 premium, a couple of weeks later when I decided to purchase a 2014 subaru forester 2.5 premium there were none on the lot so I ordered 2014 subaru forester 2.5 premium. When the car arrived it was a Base model not the premium that I had ordered.Desired Settlement: Refund, return or replace with correct model car.

Response:

Dahl

Subaru recognizes that it can be difficult to purchase vehicles when the

product is in very high demand and as a result in low supply. We make every

attempt possible to provide our guests with options to test drive in order to

make the best possible buying decision. Unfortunately for Mr. [redacted], the

exact premium model that he test drove was no longer available for sale when he

returned weeks after his initial test drive. We informed Mr. [redacted] that we

do have 2014 Forester models in our pipeline from the factory that can be

reserved for purchase. We explained the differences between the limited,

premium, and base models. We printed out a list of incoming vehicles that

included both premium models and base models. The decided that they did not

need the extra features on the premium and that they did not want to pay for

all the extras. Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] agreed to reserve base model in the color

that they liked because they felt that they did not need the additional options

that the premium Forester offered such as Power Moon roof and Heated Seats. We

printed off the exact Forester from our website that listed all the features of

the car and also a Subaru brochure with the base model circled so it was clear

what they were reserving.

About 1

month later, the Forester that Mr. [redacted] reserved had arrived so we

scheduled a delivery date of 12/24/2013. Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] came in for

delivery at the specified date and time. The Forester was here at the

dealership and they did get a chance to look at the vehicle and drive the

vehicle if they chose before completing the purchase documents. They proceeded

to complete all the necessary purchase documents and took delivery of the

vehicle. During delivery, our salesperson showed them the features of the car

and answered any questions on the use of the vehicle before departing he

dealership.

Two days

later on 12/26/2013, Mr. [redacted] called our dealership to speak with the

salesperson. He was wondering why the car did not have a rear vision camera

like the one they test drove. The salesperson explained that the rear vision

camera is not a feature of the base model. Mr. [redacted] became upset and felt

that we did not explain this to him when he ordered the car. In an effort to

please Mr. [redacted], the salesperson offered to install a rear vision camera at

the expense of the dealership. Mr. [redacted] said that he would talk it over with his wife and get

back to us.

The very

next day we received the Revdex.com complaint. I, [redacted], General Manager of Dahl

Subaru contacted Mr. [redacted] directly to discuss this issue. He stated the

same issues that are in his complaint. He stated that we deceived him into

buying the lesser base model and was certain that he ordered the premium model

and not the base. At this point in time, I tried to reason with Mr. [redacted]. I

explained that we did provide all the documentation of the vehicle at time of

reservation, that he did get the chance to fully inspect the Forester before

completing the purchase documents, and that we are here to work with him to

ensure his complete satisfaction.

I again

offered to install the rear vision camera a no expense to him because he stated that this

feature was most important to him. I also offered to exchange the base Forester

that he purchased for a Premium model for the additional expense of upgrading

to the more expensive model. He told me that he would discuss these options

with his wife and talk to me at another time.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Please close ID# [redacted], we exchanged the vehicle (at an added cost) for the model with features resembling those features that we had originally test driven and thought we had ordered.

I would rate this business the worst possible rating. Their used car sales tactics are shady and manipulative. The service department is overpriced, and ineffective - having provided us mis-diagnostics three times. Every repair we had done would then require an additional repair. We purchased a used car for $6500 and then, beginning just 10 days after we drove the car off the lot, began spending $5000 on repairs within a year. They have offered no support in these repairs. We now have a car we still owe on and can't drive because it needs another $2400 in repairs but we have spent all of our savings on the repairs so far and can't afford more. I was told when the car needed a fuel pump within the first month after we bought it "this is the risk you take when buying a used car". The last repair done was a new headgasket, during which they found additional repairs that needed done. We said to finish the head gasket and we would come and get it. When we did, the alignment was so off that the steering wheel is in a full left turn position when driving straight and a ball joint needs to be replaced (in addition to the repairs needed on the engine that they diagnosed). I wouldn't trust them to fix my lawnmower, let alone a car I drive my children in.
