Mr*** and his daughter ***, purchased a Subaru Outback from my dealership, *** Imports on 11/26/The DMV requires that a temporary Identification be issued, and is to be taped to the windshield of the vehicleI explained to Mr*** and *** that they can operate the vehicle for days with this Temporary IDI also informed them they could expect to receive their plates and registration in the mail in 4-weeksKnowing that I would be out of town for a planned trip in the first week of December, I secured an appointment on Dec 13th to register the vehicles I sold in NovemberReturning on December 11th, I was struck with a severe flu, and was bedridden for several days, and was unable to make my December 13th appointmentBeing a licensed dealer, the DMV will only see me by appointment, and allow me to register a maximum of vehicles at a timeI was able to get an appointment on December 20th, and registered the *** vehicle (and other customers), and mailed off the batch at the Castro Valley Post officeSeveral weeks later, (now February) I received a call from Mr*** saying he did not receive his plates.I was surprised to hear this , as I mailed off a batch of registrations weeks before and was sure it included his daughter's registration and platesI assured him I would pursue this situation immediately with the DMV and find out what happenedAt my next appointment (Feb 23rd) I learned the DMV had no record of me registering the *** vehicleI was very surprised to learn this, as my records showed I had already did so weeks beforeNot knowing what happened to Mr *** registration, I contacted the dealership I purchased the Subaru from and was able to reconstruct the documents necessary to resubmit everything to the DMV at my next appointment March 2ndIt was them I learned that in December, the DMV had a computer data problem resulting in the loss of many recordsThis would explain why they had no record of the *** vehicle ever being registered, which is what they told me on Feb 23rdI was able to secure a "Temporary Operating Permit" good for daysThe DMV estimates it will take a few weeks to reconstruct their records and mail them their plates and registrationI FED EX the day operating permit to the *** for next day delivery on March 2nd, and will follow up with the DMV until this matter is completely resolved. Tell us why here

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because unfortunately, it reads like a recreation of the story that Mr*** shared over the course of months of excuses He did inform me of the DMV's computer error, but that was after he had assured that he personally mailed the license to my daughter months ago
I also checked the records at the DMV, and while they could not give me a full history of the title for this car (since ownership is still not transferred), they could not affirm any loss of data in their records, nor could they confirm that a request for title transfer had been made
Further, because I could find no record of *** Imports as a registered business (nor could the Revdex.com), I unfortunately lack the faith that this matter will be followed through with in a manner that is timely, and legally transfers the title to my daughter
Her original temporary registration expired already, and the new temporary expires on April If the permanent license and registration has not been received by that date, I would like to know what my legal options are Return the car for a full refund? I don't want to wait for another excuse to learn that my daughter still doesn't own a car she paid for almost months ago
Sincerely,*** ***

Attached is Motor Vehicle Purchase Order, recording the sale of the car to *** *** (my daughter), sold by *** Imports of *** Castro Valley Blvd, *** ***, Castro Valley, CA ***
The owner and sole operator of the business is *** ***y Phone: 510-652-0370,

I'd like to reassure Mr [redacted] and the Revdex.com, that I am a licensed dealer with the State of California in good standing for more than 30 years. I would be happy to submit a copy of my dealership license and Business license as proof to Mr. [redacted] or any interested party.
I deeply regret the frustration and inconvenience this has caused the [redacted]. I am doing everything in my power to expedite this situation. In all my years of selling cars this has never happened before. I too am very frustrated by this situation, as it reflects badly on my dealership.
I have made another appointment on Tuesday, March 28th with the DMV to again follow up on the progress they are making in completing the ownership transfer and registration that I resubmitted on March 2nd. I will inform the [redacted] right away of any new information regarding the status of their registration and plates. It is my desire to resolve this matter as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the resolution is based on the timeframe that it will take the DMV to reissue the registration and plates.
I will continue to follow up with the DMV until this matter is completely resolved.
Sincerely,
[redacted]y
