To Whom It May Concern: In regards to the complaint filed by Ms [redacted] on April 19, against Dakota County Technical College (DCTC), Ms [redacted] registered for two (2) classes on July 20, at 12:p.mvia the Minnesota State Colleges and University System e-Services system The registration log indicated that Ms [redacted] successfully added the courses via the web or e-Services Ms [redacted] tried to register for a third course; however, the registration failed because she did not pass the placement exam and consequently, the prerequisite to successfully add the course It is important to note that on July 20, at 12:p.m., two (2) courses were dropped at Inver Hills Community College via e-Services Ms [redacted] states that she registered for the two (2) courses at DCTC as she thought she would pass the placement exam It is confirmed that the registration was successful for the two (2) courses but not the one requiring a specific math score on the placement exam as noted above Ms [redacted] states that she never received correspondence from the college regarding successful registration nor any subsequent correspondence indicating course registration and financial obligation Following is a sequence of correspondence sent to Ms [redacted] : July 20, – Immediate indication via e-Services that two (2) courses were successfully added (PSYC 1350-Lifespan Development, credits, and HEAL 1101-Anatomy and Physiology, credits) and one (1) course addition failed (HEAL 1150-Health Careers Mathematics) July 22, – Ms [redacted] was sent a 2015-Tracking Letter via email and U.Smail from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid requesting additional information July 24, – An email was sent and viewed by Ms [redacted] The email was sent to remind students of the tuition due date for fall courses This email is only sent to registered students July 31, – An email was sent from MsGina [redacted] , Admissions Specialist, that Ms [redacted] ’s diploma was processed and accepted to the college August 12, – Ms [redacted] completed the financial aid information requested by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid August 18, - Ms [redacted] was sent another 2015-Tracking Letter via email and U.Smail from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid requesting more information August 18, – Ms [redacted] was sent and viewed an email inviting her to the New Student Orientation for registered fall students August 27, – Ms [redacted] was sent an email but did not view it reminding her of the last day to drop from fall classes October 23, – An email was sent to Ms [redacted] from DCTC’s Business Office regarding the balance due December 9, – A letter was sent to Ms [redacted] via U.Smail stating there is an outstanding balance at DCTC Since Ms [redacted] was a registered student at DCTC, she was sent correspondence throughout fall semester August 24, was the first email sent to Ms [redacted] that was not viewed There were nine (9) other emails that were sent thereafter that were not viewed by Ms [redacted] The emails sent are only to those who are registered DCTC studentsSincerely, Anne S [redacted] , M.B.A.Associate Vice President of Student AffairsDakota County Technical College [redacted] ***Rosemount, MN 55068###-###-#### [redacted]

system.  The registration log indicated that Ms. [redacted] successfully added the courses via the web or e-Services.  Ms. [redacted] tried to register for a third course; however, the registration failed because she did not pass the placement exam and consequently, the prerequisite to successfully add the course.  It is important to note that on July 20, 2015 at 12:19 p.m., two (2) courses were dropped at Inver Hills Community College via e-Services.  Ms. [redacted] states that she registered for the two (2) courses at DCTC as she thought she would pass the placement exam.  It is confirmed that the registration was successful for the two (2) courses but not the one requiring a specific math score on the placement exam as noted above.  Ms. [redacted] states that she never received correspondence from the college regarding successful registration nor any subsequent correspondence indicating course registration and financial obligation.  Following is a sequence of correspondence sent to Ms. [redacted]:   July 20, 2015 – Immediate indication via e-Services that two (2) courses were successfully added (PSYC 1350-59 Lifespan Development, 4 credits, and HEAL 1101-01 Anatomy and Physiology, 4 credits) and one (1) course addition failed (HEAL 1150-01 Health Careers Mathematics).   July 22, 2015 – Ms. [redacted] was sent a 2015-2016 Tracking Letter via email and U.S. mail from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid requesting additional information.   July 24, 2015 – An email was sent and viewed by Ms. [redacted].
