The kimonos were not purchased at a second hand shop The purple kimono was brought back from Japan by my father in and was a treasured family pieceThe wedding kimono I purchased March 14, from an estate sale I told this to the manager I had no idea the age of the wedding kimonoThe purple kimono was in excellent condition and had no fabric loss or decoloration but now has a two inch tear ( this was not brought to my attention at the cleaners)in the right back bottom sleeve The sides, front seams as well as the back and bottom are coming undone The wedding kimono was in near excellent condition when brought in with with the exception of the corners of the roll which had slight fabric loss on each tip I pointed this out to the manager and he said he would pin the corners so as to prevent any more loss There were slight tears also in the red fabric where the arms come through the sleeves which I showed the manager The manager said there were no cleaning labels in either and I agreed I showed him the manufacture label(Hayashi) in the wedding kimonoHe said there may be some fading of the purple kimono due to age and possible bleeding of the embroidery on the wedding kimono He assured me that they could be cleaned With that understanding I agreed On the wedding kimono the entire bottom red fabric shredded The lining has come undone on both sides of the lower half of the dress and bottom The tops and bottoms of both sleeves are frayed Throughout the background fabric there are shiney spots like the fabric has been worn away or burnedThis I did not see until I brought it home and could see in the daylightThe embroidery stayed intact and did not fade I was absoluted stunned when I picked up these kimonos

Business accepted the shirts to be re-cleaned, however they did not re-clean them and admitted such. Customer service manager said they would return the shirts to my home via their delivery service, however they did not and instead demanded that I pick them up from a location that I did not drop them off at. Business demanded payment for return of the shirts despite having not re-cleaned them. I paid for the shirts to avoid having to make another highly inconvenient trip to their facility or deal with their unpleasant staff. Shirts were returned in same unacceptable condition as when they were originally accepted for re-cleaning. This is fraudulent business activity pure and simple

Despite my best efforts to negotiate a reasonable resolution the merchant was unwilling to actually re-process the shirts after they accepted them to be re-cleaned and held them for a month.  In addition both the Customer Service Manager and Assistant Customer Service Manager did not contact me despite my being explicitly told that they would.  The assistant customer service manager hung up on me when I phoned to find out what was happening.  They finally agreed to return to the shirts to me via their delivery service but after four days had not done so and refused to do so, instead demanding payment for a cleaning job that they admitted in the store was defective when they agreed to redo it.  Finally, and most disturbingly, they have fabricated unsubstantiated stories that impugn my character - a clear and reprehensible case of slander.  As a 24-year naval officer and 10+ year customer of this establishment I think I warrant a little more respect and consideration.  They have proven not only indifferent and unpleasant to work with but in stooping to defamation have shown a willingness to engage in unsavory tactics even at risk of legitimate litigious response.

Dale Cleaners processes garments and household goods to exceed industry standards, in accordance with the FTC Care Label Rules.  When a garment has no care label permission to clean is secured by way of a signed release.  That is what happened with regard to Ms.  [redacted] two...

kimono.Statement of company personnel that waited on Claimant:Ms. [redacted] brought 2 kimono identified by her as older than 75 years, acquired from a second hand shop and she wanted  to clean them.   One is a faded purple  gown and the other  kimono  shows  extreme wear around bottom lining and sleeve area.  These wear patterns are not unusual in this kind older garment due to the length of garment and long sleeve design. I spoke with her that:1. These two items do NOT have any labelling.  Seemly, the best way is dry clean because it looks to be a silk fabric.2.  Possibility of dye fading and magnified the deterioration of the garment,She acknowledged the risk and agreed to dry cleaning these two items and signed the release form.  The garments were run on the  gentlest dry cleaning cycle with the cautious treatment previously discussed with Ms. [redacted].After dry clean:The purple gown looks fine except back centre seam line open due to the deterioration of stitched thread by age.  The kimono’s main part is fine but bottom lining and sleeve worn area were further deteriorated due to the age.Claimant was not charged and took possession of the garments.  Respectfully,  DaleCleaners can not take responsibility for the defective garments.
