I had an arson at my residence, went through *** for the claim. They had Daler contracting come in to do the repairs using ***, *** completed most of the work and might I add did a really good job but Daler used one of their own guys to replace the man door to the garage. The work was terrible and even *** said the work was bad, they even had to come in and take the door out the second time because it wouldn't close or lock. I had to nail 2x4's over the door to keep it closed while I waited. The door and door frame is not even close to what was original in the garage when I had the house built, they cheaped out and bought a very basic door with no metal cladding so it all had to be painted, instead of painting the door and frame I had them put metal cladding over the wood frame. This was done and the work was very bad, *** even agreed that a 5 year old could have done better. Then after complaining about getting the door replaced with a door like was in there before the fire they said they would waive the deductible and chaulk this up to a loss. He stated in a text that this wasn't the first screw up with doors. Now after 3 months they are telling me that I have to pay the deductible after I told them I would live with the door that is in there until I sell then I would upgrade the door at that point.

Daler Contracting Response • Apr 28, 2020

Good Morning ***,

We are disappointed to hear about the complaint from Mr., I have spoken to our *** on the job. We do know there was a concern about the installation of a man door by our carpenter. We had *** attend and they had agreed that the door was not installed properly. We did offer to Mr. at this time if this was something, he wanted to take care and he could keep the deductible or we could replace the door for him. He asked us to take care of the door. The door replacement was right around the $1000 as was the deductible. We have now asked the insured for the deductible and we received an abrupt text from him saying we waived his deductible. We have responded to his text apologizing for the miscommunication but we believe if we did the work and made everything right, we would be paid the deductible.
If there are any other deficiencies on the job, we are not aware of them. Although I don’t believe Mr. is correct in not paying his bill if all the work is done. I do very much value our working relationship with *** and I am willing to waive the deductible to ensure we can continue to work together.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me anytime.

Thanks ***

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The work is not even close to my satisfaction, they should have installed the proper door to begin with like the rest of the doors in the house instead they bought a cheap base model door and thought they could cover all the wooden brick mold with hand made flashing and then had the balls to use clear silicone to cover the gaps where the flashing joins and use large philips screws to hold on the metal flashing. The work is terrible and a 5 year old could of done better. Then I recieved a text from one of their *** stating that the door would be chocked up as a loss and this has happened in the past and we are trying to learn from our mistakes was the text I recieved and I sent the text to the *** and Daler and now they still think nothing is wrong. I wouldn't let them within a *** of my house anymore just to fk it up even more. All the brick on the front is uneven and you can see where the carpenter noticed his mistake and started leveling off the brick just below the left side exterior light, the flashing around the garage door wasn't even nailed on and is now coming off and I had to push it back in place after this winter plus it was sized way too big for the 2x6 underneath, The parging all along the footing of the garage is just about all off, they didn't have to replace this apparently but they did and now its falling off. So if I have to pay the deductible can they come back and redo all the work they did to my satisfaction?

Sincerely
