Dale's Plumbing Inc.

For a quote of adding an additional water meter to my house, I contacted [redacted]'s Plumbing Inc. The quote given by Mr. [redacted] was [redacted] (Meter cost: [redacted] Material: [redacted] Labor: [redacted] However the [redacted] city was replacing residence water meter at the that time, so I contacted the city for advice. The city was very clear that I am responsible for piping, leave a space for the city to install a new meter, and I do not need to supply my own meter at this time. I talked to Mr. [redacted] about the changes of the plan, he agreed to do the work required by the city, and came to my house and did the work. He charged [redacted] (Material [redacted] Labor: [redacted] Permit: [redacted] without supplying the meter. I asked him where is the space for the new meter the city asked for? He said they (city contractors) know what to do, it is all set. He did not cut a space for the new meter that he agreed on, and he just left. However, It turned out very unfortunate when the city contractor came, obviously he did not know how to handle the situation, he said that he is not allowed to cut the pipe by city regulations, there is no way he can do his job if the pipe was not cut. The contractor told me that after cutting the pipe, the tail parts should be attached to each end of the pipe, he will be then able to connect the meter, and he also left the new water meter. I called Mr. [redacted], asked him to come back and finish his work. Mr. [redacted] came back, but he did not have the tail parts with him. He said that the tail parts come with the meter, and I can go now to buy them. His answer was really out question, how can an experienced plumber come to the site and forgot the only part needed for the day. I was very upset and said to him that I can go get the parts, or you may come back the other time with the parts. He said No and left for the parts without my consent. After almost 2 hours he came back with the parts and finished the rest of the work (the actual work took about 20 minutes). He charged me [redacted] (Material: $35 - parts cost; Labor: [redacted] I dont care how long it takes for him to get the parts, but I dont think it is fair to charge me 1.7 hrs [redacted] for shopping parts where the shop is within 3 miles. Do a simple math, [redacted] parts end up cost me [redacted] just because he forgot to bring them with him? It is unacceptable. And I have to emphasize that I did not agree to pay him for the time to shop the parts.Additionally, Mr. [redacted] charged [redacted] for the Permit (city inspection fees). However the actual inspection cost is less than [redacted] I had many experiences with other plumbers, who never charged any extra fees on the top of the actual inspection costs, such as Filing fees that Mr. [redacted] claims to charge.Account_Number: Invoice #: [redacted]Desired SettlementI am asking for a refund of unreasonable charges including [redacted] Shopping labor charges and [redacted] for the Permit Filing fees, total of [redacted]Business Response [redacted] has been plumbing for over a decade and built his business and reputation as conscientious, clean and respectable providing great customer service without a single complaint and working solely by word of mouth and recommendations. Mr. [redacted] received this same customer service as all the other customers that [redacted] and Dale's Plumbing, Inc. has worked with over the years. All of the pricing for services rendered was upfront and transparent. The work was quality, per customer and plumbing inspector. I feel that Mr. [redacted]'s complaint doesn't have merit.Thank you.
