Per the House Rules, signed by the tenant on 10/23/2014, specifically Section V- Maintenance, Repairs, and Alterations, subsection states:
"Costs of repair or clearance of stoppages in waste pipes or drains, water pipes or plumbing fixtures
caused by tenant negligence or improper usage are the responsibility of the tenantTenant agrees not to place any type of cleaners or deodorizers into the tank of the toilet as they will slowly disintegrate the rubber seals inside the tank, and could require repair or replacement of the toiletPayment for corrective action must be paid by tenant on receipt of invoice."
On Monday, 8/17/2015, the tenant first notified us of issues with two clogged bathroom drains, and stated that tenants' use of Drano had not fixed the problemWe sent our plumber out the same day we were notified to resolve the issues, and he discovered both drains were clogged with hair; he also found a bobby pin and a hair tie in the drainsOnce the hair and other items were removed, the plumber was able to restore flow to the drains
It is our opinion, and that of our plumber, that if this were an issue prior to move-in, the drains would have backed up within the first couple of months of tenancy
Per the information that we have, it is not our company policy to reimburse tenants for this kind of repair
