Dalton Service Company Reviews (3)

My husband and I are joint owners of Dalton Service Company, LLC and in twenty years have never beenturned into the Revdex.com or any other agency for that matterWe do very little advertising and have built ourreputation by word of mouth and good reputationWe have a reputation for being fair and
fullydisclosing to the expenses that may arise in the processWhen I received this complaint in the mail I wasimmediately upset both that we were turned in because we have worked so hard to treat people fairly, but mostly because of the information detrimental to our reputation was either left out or in***’s claim. When a customer calls we establish if it is an emergency and needs done ASAP or if it can be scheduled.Next, we get the customers first and last name, phone numbers where they can be reached, address, determine if the customer is responsible for the bill or if it is rental property and who is responsible.Next, we ensure if our form’s of acceptable payment that is due at time of service is viable for thecustomerWe then get information about the tank including: number of years since last being pumped(which tells us if possibly there could be a problem with the leach bed, a clogged line or if the tank willbe overfull with solids and we will need to add water that would add an additional charge)We ask thecustomer how far away the tank is from the road or driveway so we know how much hose to put on thetruck or brought to siteWe inform the customer of the regular rate for a tank up to 1,gallons, but ifwe would need to add water to pump it or there is over 1,gallons there will be an extra chargewhich is established at a rate per gallonWe let the customer know if we need more than the 100’ ft ofhose, which is what we can carry on our trucks that there will be an additional charge and are informedwhat the cost would beWe ask the customer if it is open and ready to be pumpedIf they tell us no: weThe standard procedure when receiving a call to pump a septic tank is as follows:1let them know either they need to get it exposed themselves or we can send a backhoe to dig it, whichagain is an additional chargeWe also give them the option of calling who they wish to dig the tankand/or refer them to people we trust and are reasonableWe inform the customer if the truck arrivedonsite to pump the tank and it can’t be pumped there will be a service fee in which will be credited tothem when they call us again after locating the tank and is pumped by usOnce all of this information isestablished we let them know a date and estimated timeOn the day of service we give the driver theirname and phone number so that the driver can call the customer for directions and finalize theestimated time of arrivalWe are very thorough in this process, because we have pride in the fact thatwe have no hidden costs to the customers.ALL of the above information was established Isn't
is amazing how a company that could not find five minutes to return
my phone call of dissatisfaction can suddenly find an excess of eight
hours of time and boundless energy meticulously refuting a minor
complaint once the Revdex.com becomes involved?!
Mrs. [redacted] has embellished some fanciful details into her narrative. In
my opinion, none of them are germane to this complaint, but I feel I
should address some of them in part for the sake of shining a light
on Mrs. [redacted]'s somewhat fanciful response.
A.To
use Mrs. [redacted]'s vulgarism, I have no idea to what “badmouthing”
she refers. I have never had past dealings with any septic company.
As stated in my initial complaint, having no experience in such
matters, I chose [redacted] Service Company because they had sent a post
card with a time-for-service reminder. In my opinion, claiming that
it was really “some other company” when your company's address
and phone number appear in print bespeaks a lack of integrity.

B.
The
dozen phone calls claimed by Mrs. [redacted] does not make mention of a
frustrating flurry of dropped cell phones calls which comprised a
single conversation.  All prices and fees were correctly revealed with the exception of the service fee.  I feel that was an honest oversight since all parties believed the job would be performed and completed on the first and only visit.
C.Quoting
Mrs. [redacted]: “At 9:14am
when [redacted] had called to have her septic tank pumped she had stated
that her father had marked 4-5 areas in the yard.” This is not
true. I have no idea why Mrs. [redacted] would make this statement.
There is no septic tank in our yard.
D.The
time line, conversations and events quoted by Mrs. [redacted] are
incorrect in ways too numerous and petty to mention. The technician
arrived at and left the property much earlier in the day as both my
mother and neighbors had witnessed and will attest. Again, I believe
these details have no bearing on my complaint, but I feel Mrs.
[redacted]'s apparent need to create a dubious narrative reflects
poorly on her grasp of the simple nature of my complaint. None of it
changes the fact that my so-called service call included no competent
service nor promise of future service. My December 31, 3:29PM phone call was
the initial call of complaint. That complaint was not addressed.
There was no further communication from [redacted] Service Company after
December 31.  I felt this reflected an attitude of "take the money and run."
E. My mother's property has one septic tank. The lawn has one
sprinkler system tank. When a workman is repeatedly told, “This is
the sprinkler tank” and “This is the septic tank” and he
insists otherwise, asks me to flush several commodes in the house,
and I then return to find the young man with his ear to the sprinkler
tank, what is the consumer to do? I bear no ill will against the
workman and do not wish to disparage what I am certain were his best
well-intentioned efforts. He appeared earnest, good-natured, and
hard-working, but did not seem to be completely conversant in the
septic business.  I quickly lost all faith in him that day.  I stood listening mere feet away during the workman's phone conversation, he did not once ask about billing, but rather what to do regarding, according to him, not being able to find the septic tank..
Were I to call Sears for a dishwasher repair only to have the
technician tell me my dishwasher was a clothes dryer as he closely
examines the washing machine, rest assured, I would complain directly
to Sears. And being a reputable company, I know that Sears would
quickly address my complaint and settle the matter one way the other
without my having to resort to third party intervention.
I
feel that a company's true reputation is revealed in how it handles,
to use Mrs. [redacted]'s demeaning and dismissive term, “ONE
disgruntled, untruthful customer.” I would caution against anyone
doing business with a fair weather company that has clearly
demonstrated their unwillingness to address even the
smallest complaint. I shudder to think what one might expect if ever
a larger, more expensive problem were to present. In my opinion, Ms.
[redacted] has revealed her company's true colors.I would hope that after some calm consideration and honest contemplation by Mrs. [redacted], I will receive a fully-deserved refund of $85.00.

Review: The septic tank at my elderly widowed mother's house needed to have the discharge line flushed and the tank emptied. She had received a promotional follow-up postcard from [redacted]'s Service Company, which had previously provided pump truck services at that property. I chose the vendor solely based on their prior experience there. The scheduling representative was very helpful and we had several good telephone conversations. At no time during any of those conversations was a service charge for an at-home estimate mentioned. The only charges mentioned were the cost of digging and pumping.[redacted]'s telephone service representative was unable to locate any records from the previous job performed at the property but said that they had a service person nearby that could assess the situation and pump the septic system that same day. When the pump operator arrived, he could not locate the septic tank, got back in his truck and left... AFTER checking in with owner, [redacted], who instructed him to charge me $85.00 for the visit. The bill read, "Could not find septic tank. Will deduct off of next bill per [redacted]."What next bill?! I felt angry and cheated being charged an $85 fee that 1) I was never informed of in advance nor on site. In fact, the driver was ready to leave without billing any charge when a check-in phone call to the owner resulted in an order to add the $85 at the last minute. 2) If a company is going to charge a service call fee, it is implied that there should be some actual service or promise of service connected to that fee. A septic service operator who arrives without so much as a soil probe, who is unable to locate the septic tank, and merely says, "I don't know what to tell you" does not, in my opinion, constitute a professional service call and I feel I should not have been charged for one.I immediately called the company with this complaint and have not heard back from them. In my opinion, I feel I've been cheated out of $85.00 by [redacted]'s Service Company.Desired Settlement: If a company is going to charge a service call fee, it is implied that there should be some actual service or promise of service connected to that fee. I feel that nothing of value was revealed or accomplished and I am due an $85 refund.
