Damage Clean Up Crew Reviews (3)

I hired this company to do work that was supposed to be done in 2 weeks, but it took them a year. The overhang came down several months after being installed. I did not have it reinstalled because the storm door blew open and damaged it (did not fit properly). The storm door installed had to be removed, and we are replacing the main door as well because that was not installed properly. We also need to hire someone to replace some of the siding that came down last year.

Review: On September 27, 2014, I experienced a flood in my bathroom, which necessitated me to file a claim with my insurance company.

The workers cut my phone cord to my DSL and I had to replace.

It took until February 2015 to have the pod removed from my parking spot.

They did not put a switch plate in the bathroom

The lock box on the front door – I had to ask them so many times to remove it. It was finally removed until August 2015

My living room area rug was left outside on my back porch, exposed to the elements. The rug is ruined

DCC left 2 storage cabinets from my kitchen were left outside on my back porch, exposed to the elements

DCC left the metal folding cabinet doors to my heater closet were left outside in my back yard, and were stolen

The painters were not careful and got paint on my brand new winter coat

DCC lost the power/connection cords to my Directv DVR. I had to call Directv and have a service call I was without TV, Phone and Internet for a week, while I waited for the service call.

Heater vents – I had 3 vents. 2 of them were lost. They have given me 3 new ones, but the hole in the laundry room floor isn’t cut out all the way, so it won’t sit flush with the floor.

Tile in kitchen – two of the tiles felt “lumpy” so they replaced them. HOWEVER, the tiles are a different color from the other tiles, and it is very noticeable. In addition, the two new tiles were never grouted, so you could potentially cut your foot on the corner.

Prior to the damage, I had a garbage disposal in the kitchen. They did not install one during the construction phase.

When they were doing demolition, they broke one of the window panes out of my back door.Desired Settlement: I need DCC to replace two tiles in kitchen so everything looks uniform, and grout the tiles.

I need my heater closet doors replaced, or be reimbursed after I replace them myself. Approximately $100-$200

I need a bigger hole cut in my laundry room floor so register can fit.

I need to be reimbursed for the rug left on the back porch. Approximately $100.

I need to be reimbursed for the storage cabinet I had to replace, after it went missing. Approximately $75

I want them to sand down the window box ledge, back to its original wood finish, that they didn’t need to paint in the first place.

Response:

Tell us why here...Re: [redacted] Water LossTo Whom It May Concern,[redacted] had a water loss at

her residence in [redacted] N.J. We were hired to dothe remediation and build back

portion of her claim. I, William J[redacted] met with [redacted] adjuster [redacted] from [redacted]. After he viewed the loss and saw the extent

of the damages, he determined that the asbestos needed to be removed and he

would be turning the claim over to a larger loss adjuster and that adjuster

would write the claim because of the size of loss. I met with the new adjuster and

he wrote for all of the asbestos and for new carpet to be installed in the

hallway and the stairs only as well. The metal cabinets' that are

mentioned in her complaint were removed by her neighbor who took them for scrap

metal. I only found out because he also removed the metal door which went in

front of the heater. When I asked [redacted] where the door and cabinets were

because I needed to reinstall it, that's when she told me that the neighbor

took it along with the heater door. She informed me that she was going to talk

to him and later told me he had already scrapped them. I then gave her a price

for the new door and she told me to hold off and her brother would get one and

her brother would put it in. The ceramic tile was replaced in

her kitchen and she told me that two tiles felt a little higher than the

others. I sent our tile guy to replace the tile and he informed her that he

purchased the same tile but, it was from a different dye lot and she told him

that it was fine and to go ahead and install it. When he went back to grout it

she told him that she thought it did look right and to leave it alone. The trim

around window was painted. The wood on the window sill was broken and all trim

and case molding around it was replace due to the water damage she previously

had. There was paneling going up about 4ft and she decided she was not going

back with that and told us to paint all the trim white including window trim,

which made sense due to all the other trim case and door were all painted the

same color. [redacted] signed the letter of satisfaction of completion and

was happy with the work that was paid for by the insurance company. I met with

the mortgage company at her house for the inspection so they would release to

us the final payment. The inspector said down stairs looked great and asked to

see the upstairs. [redacted] told the inspector in front of me that she was

going to get the upstairs carpet done at a later date because she used the money

from the insurance company to buy herself new appliances. The inspector

informed her that she can not use that money for that purpose and that was not

what the funds were for. He also told her they were not going to release any

more funds to her until work up stair was completed. She said she was out of

work and asked if we could put the carpet and padding in and pay for all the install

because we needed to complete. She said she would contact the insurance company

to come back out for the final inspection so they would release the final

payment to us. When we contacted [redacted] and asked for our final payment

that is when we were informed of a complaint lodged against us. The carpet that

was discarded in her complaint was damaged due to the loss and she was paid by

insurance as far as I know. If it was not then that is a matter for her to take

up with [redacted] We have not received our payment for completion of

insurance and additional change orders, signed by [redacted] to date. She

has made no effort to make any arrangements with my office. The coat that she

refers to getting paint on was paid for even though we packed out the entire

downstairs of her residence. She was staying in a hotel while we were working

on her house. She said she was not going to stay at the hotel any longer and

moved home before the work was finished. She was staying upstairs in her house

while we worked. She left the coat on the stair railing and a little spot about

the size of an eraser on top of a pencil got on it. I asked her if I could

clean it or how much it would cost to replace it. She said it was $100 to

replace it. I gave her a check for the $100 which I can provide a copy of the cashed

check and what it was for if need be. The storage container and lock box stayed

at the house. It is protocol that we finish the project and then move their

personal property back into the house when the job is complete. [redacted]

moved back prematurely and before payments for project were complete as well. I

hope I have addressed all issues and concerns, but if you have further

questions please feel free to contact me at my office at [redacted] My

attorney [redacted] can be contacted at [redacted] as well. Sincerely,

_______________ William J[redacted] Project Manager.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:DCC is correct in stating that my

neighbor took the doors to the heater closet. However, if the doors were not left outside in the elements, there would

never have had an opportunity to be stolen.I am fine with the trim around the window;

I forgot that we had that conversation.I spoke with Mr. J[redacted] at my home on 11/25/15

about the tile in the kitchen. He

informed me that the floors would have to be ripped out and completely

replaced. He told me that he would

contact me about when the individual would be coming out, so someone could be

home to let them in. I texted Mr. J[redacted]

on 12/3/15, and he said he would be calling me back to schedule them. I have not heard from him again yet.About the final check, I wasn’t aware

that they hadn’t received it. I spoke to

Mr. J[redacted] back in February or March, and he told me he hadn’t received it, and

I called the insurance company and they told me that they had been paid. I let Mr. J[redacted] know that they had paid all

the bills, and provided the check numbers and dates and to let me know if there

was anything outstanding, and I never heard back from him. I had no problems with the carpet in

the house. I was OK with them not

replacing the carpet on the stairs at all because they were providing me with a

new stove/oven and dishwasher. However

the insurance company said that the carpet was in the scope of the job and had

to be replaced. The rug I am talking about is an area

rug that was left outside on the back porch, exposed to the elements. At this point, I would be happy to just

have my tile floor in the kitchen fixed and be reimbursed for the heater closet

door (they would never have been stolen if they weren’t outside) and rug that

were left outside on the back porch.
