On X-XX-XX I was told I had a credit on my acct and asked for a refund. I called 2 wks later and was told it was in the process. I never got it.On X-XX-XX during a routine eye exam for my son I was told I had a credit on my acct. I asked for a refund. I followed up after 2 wks and was told it was in the process. Time went by and I never got the refund and never thought about it. I stopped by their office today, X-XX-XX to inquire. I was told I had to wait for a mgr. to contact me on 4-14. The refund is for $25 for a copay that I paid back on X-XX-XX that wasn't necessary. It's been there for 31 mo. I guess their policy is to require patients to pay a copay even if the ins. doesn't require it. At the time, I was covered under BC/BS and I knew they didn't require a copay for a yearly exam, but was told I had to pay it anyways. I was told today that they don't know which ins. require copays and which ones don't. So they collect it no matter what. Now I wonder how many people pay copays that sit as a credit on their acct. and D'Ambrosio keeps money and never refunds it to people? $25 adds up if they collect it from a lot of people. I don't recall getting the refund check. If I did, then they need to prove it to me. The credit no longer shows on my acct., but where is the check? Is it sitting on someone's desk, lost in the mail, what? I'm ready to tell the office manager to write me a check out of her own personal checking account and then she can go find out where the money is. The check I wrote was from 9-24-11. I have front copy of the check, but not the back, only the bank statement showing it was cashed back in 2011. I think they'd be better off sending a bill to people if they don't know if there's a copay due or not. If I owed them money, they'd be chasing me and sending me to collection. If I charged them 15% interest for the 31 mo. they've had my $25, I'd be billing them for $116.25. Would they like that? I don't think so. The point of the matter is, I don't know where my money is and they shouldn't be holding on to people's money for so long and never refunding them. What if I took my business to another eye doctor? I would have never known that I had a $25 refund coming to me. It's bad business practices in my opinion to hold on to people's money and not let them know. I think they need to do some checking and get audited by the State of Massachusetts. Desired SettlementI want a refund for $25.00 that was on my account as of 2-18-14Business Response We have refunded the payment to the patient and she has acknowledged receipt. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)First, I did get my money, but I had to chase it. I called them on X-XX-XX to make sure they were doing something about it. I asked them to deliver it to my house but they decided to send it certified mail. However, during my conversation, no one, including [redacted], would tell me where the money had disappeared to. All she would continually tell me is that "They were retraining their staff". Where was the money? Did someone write it off? Did someone write it off and write a check to themselves? I would like a detailed reason about where my money was. If they don't want to acknowledge where the money went to, then they're hiding something. Is someone an inside crook in their business? How many other people's money have the kept, written off, lost? Getting the information about my case might uncover a lot of other people's money. I've also reported them to the State Attorney General, Martha Coakley, so her office can do some digging into the matter and hopefully they will get audited. Over $25.00, they made me have to chase them which is an absolute disgrace. I hope they're ashamed of themselves. Their response of 'we have refunded the payment to the patient and she has acknowledged receipt', is a drop in the bucket to me. I want to know the WHOLE story about where and why. Maybe I won't get it, who knows, but it's worth it to me to find out. Let the demons out of the closet. Thanks.
