Dan Brudnak Brickpointing / General

Review: When my family and I were looking for a house back in September of 2011 we came across a house that fit our budget but needed work according to the FHA and the City. One of the jobs that needed to get done was brickpointing on the front, side and back of the house due to missing mortar and missing/broken brick. The realtor and moratgage company of the seller put in a work order for the job with Dan Brudnak Brickpointing / General. The estimate came to $4,000. After an agreement was made with the seller and myself to split the cost of the job, the job went underway. From that point on, it took several phone calls on my end, my realtor's end, and the seller's realtor's end to get the work done, because the pointers would show up when they wanted to and never respond back to messages. After closing on the house, there was still some work that needed to get done and I attempted to get ahold of the pointers by phone. I explained that the front, side and back of the house were not completed. At this point, the pointers had received full payment and were still under contract to finish the work. They returned one day to finish the front of the house but proceeded to do a slop job leaving my front roof and alleyway a mess with mortar mix and old mortar. After inspecting the work, I had noticed that many areas on the front, side and back were never touched let alone brickpointed. About half of the work order was completed. Over the past year and a half I have made several attempts to contact the pointer about looking at the work that was never completed and I have successful made two appointments that the pointer never showed up for. After my third attempt to contact him by phone I could only get an answering machine and every attempt since then has been the same, answering machine and no phone call back. As a result of the poor brick pointing, interior wall damage has occured in several rooms because of moisture coming through the walls.Desired Settlement: I believe since only half of the work order was completed that I should be entitled to half, $2,000, of the work order price, $4,000, as a refund for the job not being completed. As for the interior damage, I am still waiting on estimates to fix the damage, but I believe I should be entitled to reimbursement for the interior repairs due to poor brick pointing as well.
