I did not receive your letter dated October 19, until October 22, Inresponse to Revdex.com Complaint ID [redacted] submitted to Revdex.com by complainant, hereis a factual account.Complainant wanted a section of concrete that tapered from approximately ftdown to ft width the length of his existing driveway for the purpose of wideningthe driveway. At the time of my initial inspection of the project, I pointed out to thecomplainant that an existing manhole that was centered in the concrete additionwould compromise the structural strength of the concreteI informed him that itwas not a situation and that no kind of an engineering design exists thatwould prevent the likelihood of the concrete from cracking outward from thewalls of the manholeI proposed encasing the section where the manhole waslocated with wire mesh, then added rebar and expansion joint around the outsidewall of the manhole to try to fortify the strength of the concrete but stated that itstilt may not be good enough to prevent some cracking.Complainant agreed to have the work done and the work was perform.Complainant did contact me on October 11, regarding cracks, and I calledhim back to inform him that I would be inspecting the problemI then inspectedthe new addition and called complainant back and reminded him that I hadinformed him, before starting the job, that cracking would likely result from theweakness of the concrete created by the presence of the manholeThecomplainant stated that he did not remember me saying this and that he believedI could not rememberI then ask him what he thought I should do and hesuggested that I take the concrete out from around the manhole and replace withnew concrete and I explained to him that this would not remedy the problem.Unfortunately, despite giving him fair warning about the inevitable cracking, thecomplainant immediately displayed a hostile and abusive attitude with me on thephone and he terminated the call.Lastly, I called complainant back again after about minutes realizing that I didnot have the opportunity to explain what a remedy or repair for the problemwould beHe answered the phone telling me that he was filing a complaint withthe Revdex.comI explained that a grinder could be taken to cut the cracks 1/inch deepand 1/inch wide and to caulk fill the cracks in order to keep the water out and theedges from chippingAgain he called my opinion and remedy into question atwhich time I suggested he get a second opinionHe stated he wanted me tocome over and grind and caulk the cracksI stated that I would not come out tothe property while he was exhibiting an attitude like he had.I never suggested that he hire another concrete company or rent a concrete saw.I predicted and informed him of the potential problem that came about beforethe driveway was installed. In my professional opinion, I feel his complaint is not legitimate

I am rejecting this response because:I am writing this in response to MrFew's " factual account " of this complaint. I can not understand why, if he said the concrete would crack, why is he blaming it on the manhole? That manhole has been there for years, was he suggesting it was going to shift and cause the cracking? Surely after years it should have well settled by nowMy thinking is that he just did not prepare the base around the manhole well enough, either he did not fill it in enough or pack it down hard enough to support the concrete. Secondly, I DID NOT , at any time, suggest to him about removing and replacing any part of the concreteAll I asked him to do was to repair the crackMy fear was, and still is, that this winter water will get in the crack and expand and cause more separation of the crack and cause more damageThis could cause the whole corner of the section to separateThirdly, I did not get, as he stated get , hostile and abusiveI did get very upset, everytime I asked him if he was going to repair it, he would say that there is nothing he could do or that he would do about itAt that point, I did hang up the phone, I saw that I was getting no where with him. That's when I decided to file this complaintI was very surprised when he called back and explained to me how it could be repairedHe told me how it could be done, but he did not say he would do it, so I took it to be that he was telling me how I could fix itWell, I do not have a concrete saw, therefore, I would have to rent one, I have never operated a concrete saw, so in the interest of my own safety, and to do the repair right, I would have to hire someone else to fix his mistake, after I have already paid MrFew's company $to do the job that only lasted six months The statement he made about coming on to my property because of my attitude, that is just another cop out , just another excuse not to do the repair And lastly, I would think that a person who has his name on a business would have enough pride in himself, his business, and his work that he would do anything to keep his name and his business honorableAnd I' ll say it again, this concrete, regardless of the cause, should not have crack in six months, and the manhole had nothing to do with the crackingAnd in my opinion, it is his company's responsible to fix the problem, therefore I believe this complaint is warranted

The complainant agreed to have a drive extension poured for a price, andof his designThe complaintant was told the extension would most likely crack in the area of a manhole which it did.The complaintant has been hostile and abusive even though he was warned of the likelihood of crackingThe concrete is not ruined after monthsIt has a crack where predicted that can be chaulkedThe complaintant should be reminded I offered at the completion of installation to come back and apply a second coat of cure and seal before winter if the complaintant would clean the surface and set with me prior to the sealingWhich would now be his responsibility to do as well to help protect from freeze , thaw, and salt damage

I am rejecting this response because: I totally disagree with his responseI will not apology for something I think was warranted on my part because of the responses I was getting from him. It is nice of him to offer to come and repair it for a "small" fee after I already paid him $for the job in the first placeSo, in closing, I can see I am not getting anywhere with him, I will get someone who knows what they are doing to repair itSo, MERRY CHRISTMAS, MrFew, enjoy my money, knowing your work lasted less than six monthsI do not need a response anymore.Regards,

I stand by my factual response to the complainant's first messageThe manhole creates a weak spot within the concreteI predicted a crack, informed the customer of the likelihood of a crack and he wanted to proceedThe customer became hostile and abusive telling me I did not tell him the concrete would crack, and if I did, I would not remember(abusive) The complainant never ask what I thought should be done, hung up on me and when I called him back to suggest what I thought was a remedy, he told me he was filing a complaint with the Revdex.com(hostile) Due to the fact the complainant was told of the high probability of a crack and wished to continue, I do not feel responsible for the crack repairDue to the hostile and abusive attitude, I have no choice but to avoid the complainant's property.I will offer my service to grind and caulk the cracks under two conditions:An apology from the complainant for his hostile and abusive attitudeAn agreement to come grind and caulk the cracks for a small fee for my time and material

I stand by my factual response to the complainant's first message. The manhole creates a weak spot within the concrete. I predicted a crack, informed the customer of the likelihood of a crack and he wanted to proceed. The customer became hostile and abusive telling me I did not tell him the concrete would crack, and if I did, I would not remember. (abusive) The complainant never ask what I thought should be done, hung up on me and when I called him back to suggest what I thought was a remedy, he told me he was filing a complaint with the Revdex.com. (hostile) Due to the fact the complainant was told of the high probability of a crack and wished to continue, I do not feel responsible for the crack repair. Due to the hostile and abusive attitude, I have no choice but to avoid the complainant's property.I will offer my service to grind and caulk the cracks under two conditions:1. An apology from the complainant for his hostile and abusive attitude2. An agreement to come grind and caulk the cracks for a small fee for my time and material.

driveway for the purpose of wideningthe driveway. At the time of my initial inspection of the project, I pointed out to thecomplainant that an existing manhole that was centered in the concrete additionwould compromise the structural strength of the concrete. I informed him that itwas not a normal situation and that no kind of an engineering design exists thatwould prevent the likelihood of the concrete from cracking outward from thewalls of the manhole. I proposed encasing the section where the manhole waslocated with wire mesh, then added rebar and expansion joint around the outsidewall of the manhole to try to fortify the strength of the concrete but stated that itstilt may not be good enough to prevent some cracking.Complainant agreed to have the work done and the work was perform.Complainant did contact me on October 11, 2015 regarding cracks, and I calledhim back to inform him that I would be inspecting the problem. I then inspectedthe new addition and called complainant back and reminded him that I hadinformed him, before starting the job, that cracking would likely result from theweakness of the concrete created by the presence of the manhole. Thecomplainant stated that he did not remember me saying this and that he believedI could not remember. I then ask him what he thought I should do and hesuggested that I take the concrete out from around the manhole and replace withnew concrete and I explained to him that this would not remedy the problem.Unfortunately, despite giving him fair warning about the inevitable cracking, thecomplainant immediately displayed a hostile and abusive attitude with me on thephone and he terminated the call.Lastly, I called complainant back again after about 10 minutes realizing that I didnot have the opportunity to explain what a remedy or repair for the problemwould be. He answered the phone telling me that he was filing a complaint withthe Revdex.com. I explained that a grinder could be taken to cut the cracks 1/2 inch deepand 1/4 inch wide and to caulk fill the cracks in order to keep the water out and theedges from chipping. Again he called my opinion and remedy into question atwhich time I suggested he get a second opinion. He stated he wanted me tocome over and grind and caulk the cracks. I stated that I would not come out tothe property while he was exhibiting an attitude like he had.I never suggested that he hire another concrete company or rent a concrete saw.I predicted and informed him of the potential problem that came about beforethe driveway was installed. In my professional opinion, I feel his complaint is not legitimate.
