I am rejecting this response because: This information is totally inaccurate. I have spoken with several representatives with the lender's insurance department, and I was informed that the Gap Insurance is optional. They stated that the dealer, nor myself would not have been charged a $1500 penalty fee for opting out. I was advised to follow up with Revdex.com, as well as file a complaint with DMV.

insurance will cover the difference between the car loan payoff, and the actual cash value of the vehicle according to your insurance provider. For Example, If someone had a loan balance of $9,000, and the insurance company values the vehicle at $6,000 (at the time of total loss) The Gap insurance will cover the $3,000. This would protect you from paying any further on a vehicle you no longer have. Also, This protects the lenders assets by insuring they receive the remainder of the money that was loaned.The $1500 that you are referring to is a Bank fee that would be charged to the dealer, in order to initiate the loan without Gap insurance (as opposed to the $1000 fee we paid) with this particular lender. As we explained, We could not afford to sell the car with that large of a bank fee. First time buyer loans can be tricky with some lenders with bank fees and generally higher interest rates.Again, we are sorry about any miscommunication.
