In summary, I felt the actions displayed by Dr. Dana Jackson & Associates were unethical and driven by greed. I dont feel they are genuinely concerned about my childrens health but more about money. I scheduled a routine cleaning for my two children in May. We were optimistic about this new dentist. My husband accompanied them. The cleaning went well but nothing that followed did! The doctor inspecting the cleaning suggested both kids needed braces but called in another doctor to confirm. He failed to mention the doctor was a specialist and this would incur an additional fee of $60. This fee was not added on the bill for that day. They also scheduled follow up appointments for the next day for both kids to get x-rays, etc. I immediately instructed my husband to cancel one of them as the claim of needing braces was clearly bogus! Upon receiving the new bill the next day, my husband inquired about the $60 fee, it was only then they explained about the specialist. He rebutted stating he did not ask for nor was he properly informed a specialist was being summoned that would result in additional fees. the appointment was for routine cleaning. We had no intention on consulting about braces. In short- he would have declined the specialist! They said they would review it and get back to him. Wed discussed getting braces for my youngest child within the past year with his previous dentist. They recommended that we wait until all his permanent teeth sprouted before installing them. I trust and respect the opinion of my doctors. That being said, I attended the follow up to review x-rays and information. During the presentation, it quickly became obvious this doctor is merely about money. She suggested installing the braces while three teeth had not yet sprouted. Also she stated he needs corrective surgery and therapy on his tongue which is the root cause of the issue however provided no additional information or presentation about the surgery. I was perplexed and didnt see the logic. I expressed concerns that installing braces prematurely may prolong the process and require unnecessary adjustments, etc. I also expressed concerns of pain volume from the braces then, subsequent surgery on an 11 year old. None of my concerns were fully addressed. I asked why not remedy the root cause prior to implementing corrective action? She simply stated it didnt matter which came first. While discussing the price for the braces of which $3737.00 I would pay, they only addressed the braces, not the surgery. Again, I am perplexed! Needless to say, we declined the braces. We then received a bill including the $60 specialist fee. I dont think this is ethical to charge someone who did not consent to a service, nor is ethical to manipulate people into un-necessary services for the benefit of making profits.
